If your sole reason to move to the Villages is for Fido's poop, then you need to reconsider your priorities.

Suburb of 80,000 back north had sidewalks. We all had to shovel them (of snow). But it was nice to have them.

The Villages' streets and front yards are not large enough to fit sidewalks. I know I would be left with basically only a flowerbed in the front of my house if there were a sidewalk adjacent to the street. The Villages is not a "bedroom" community.

We moved here from a community that had sidewalks plus walking paths etc. The social media from there isn't much different than here. People complaining about people's dogs eliminating on their lawns (plus that strip between the sidewalk and street). They also complain about speedsters as well as the round-abouts etc. People will be people no matter where they live. I guess if the OP (and others) find the true utopia of perfection of living, they won't let us know.

If the The Villages had sidewalks would it be as bad to sometimes have to clean up poop on the grass between the sidewalks and the roadway? Rather than a neighbors lawn.
This is a 'springboard' for discussion. Thank you. Marvinh
Most of the streets in The Villages that aren’t major streets have very little traffic, and walking there is easier than walking on sidewalks and probably safer. Sidewalks in established villages would be paid for by us, not by the developer, and most of us don’t want to pay several thousand dollars for our share of sidewalk. If dogs excreted on a grass strip between a sidewalk and a street, the dog owners would still need to pick it up, and it would still need to be mowed by the homeowner. So, I think sidewalks would not be a good idea.

Not exactly. There is a strip of land designated as a utility easement, but you still own that land. Otherwise, you wouldn't need to mow it, and your sprinkler heads wouldn't be there.

We live on a cul de sac and it seems people love to bring their dogs and poop in the roundabout. Why do they have to bring them here? Why not their own yards (because they do not pick it up). People are so inconsiderate.

So they install sidewalks. Residents then walk their dogs on the sidewalk instead of the road which touches other residents yards.

The sidewalks will touch other residents yards as well so the dog still does their business in the other residents yards.

Answer do not absolutely do not allow your dog to go in others yards period.

Empty your dog as I do in your own yard then walk them and problem solved.

Just have to think ahead. No one is a bigger dog lover than me and I love mine so much that I won’t allow her to make enemies by doing her business anywhere but her own property.

Don’t tell me it can’t be done I do it everyday.

A lot of developers, including The Villages, have stopped installing a strip of grass between the sidewalk and the curb. They have learned that it is too expensive to maintain that strip of grass.

1. noise from trucks and car on or near the turnpike, 2 rental noise 3. smell from sewerage disposal plant. 4. property line issues. 5 high CDD charges. 5 no community travel. 5 long wait time to use amenities.6. and a lot more

I live in a CYV and the main reason for that is so that my dog can go out anytime she pleases in our fenced in back yard to relieve herself. Rarely do we go walking and when we do she stays IN THE STREET ALL THE TIME. Not allowed to sniff around or walk on others lawns.

Recommend you not move here if it already bothers you.
