Now Rap. Maybe it is down by the dog park. We need to see where it is.

But everytime I drive through the tunnel under any street I am hoping that the engineers parents sent them to a good school.

I had the same hopes every time I sat down in a military aircraft, but it wasn't the engineers I was worried about..it was the maintenance guys.

We drove through the tunnel at 466 and cr101 this morning (twice) before we knew it was a sinkhole that closed the intersection. We saw the trucks blocking the intersection but just assumed an accident on cr101.

I just drove by it. It is about 3 feet of pavement and it is about 5 feet north of the northeast corner of the interection. Right next to the curb.

Why? Do you see the street drain beside the ground collapse (aka sinkhole OOOH sinkhole) IMO 99% of sinkholes (AKA ground collapse) are man made street drain retention pond failures.

Right next to street drain, I sure that didn't have nothing to do with it

I don't know why everyone's posting news about a new sinkhole. Afterall, you're more likely to be struck by lightning than affected by a sinkhole, right? When was the last time someone in TV was struck by lightning by the way? I did a search and haven't found any posts in the last year. When I contributed to a thread about it a few weeks ago I was chided and told the lightning thing and it was suggested that I'm OCD about sinkholes and maybe I shouldn't move to TV. Yet here we are again - residents (people who already moved here) talking about another sink hole.

Where are the lightning strike threads?

Sometimes what a person receives is a result of what a person sends out.

Oh we have lots of them. There is a gentleman who calls himself "Lightning" on this Forum and he will come to any club or gathering to talk to people in The Villages on the subject. He has learned a lot on the subject from the University of Florida and he speaks on how best to protect yourself and your home from a lightning strike and does not support any business in particular. (Lightning rods etc.)

The last time I remember the subject of Lightning strikes there were 13 homes burnt to the ground in The Villages from lightning strikes. No lives were lost and no person harmed.

You can look at this thread. There are lots of them on the subject of lightning;

Lightning caused house fires

We took our visiting Granddaughter to New Covenant UMC (located about a block down and off 101 and the small sinkhole in the road that I observed caused no significant traffic problems for the hundreds of church goers Sunday morning. Bottom line on so called sinkholes is “there are sinkholes and then real sinkholes”. Some are caused by drains and culverts and may be called a sinkhole but in the scope of things are relatively insignificant. I have no idea what caused this problem but “engineers and experts” will let us know in due time.

The Villages has experienced more than it’s share of rainfall the last several weeks (ponds are over their normal capacity) and this can cause abnormal ground shifts and breaks. Wish we could give our friends out west some of this unnecessary moisture.

Yes but 101 is NOT blocked off completely you can get through. They have the right lane cordoned off -- approximately 6' x 6'. It is directly on the corner of 101 and 466 on the Publix side.

Folks at Publix told me that it was a much smaller depression but it was dug out for repair.
