If nothing else this thread shows that there are at least a few of us in TV that enjoy "that sort of thing"

There is a jazz band that plays the squares. Valerie Gillespie Ensemble. This video is from a year ago, but I saw them a few months back. They had added a guitar player when I saw them. I think they play a few times every year. Valerie is a music professor in Tampa & the band is quite good. Well worth a visit to the squares on the evenings they appear.

Yup there would definitely be a much larger crowd than they realize. Plus, a good band can pick music from just about all these bands that people could actually dance to, if they were so inclined.

I had plenty of AC/DC at my wedding a couple years ago and our slow dance was to a Metallica song (Nothing Else Matters).

And not to stereotype but people that like music of the metal genre are likely to spend plenty at the bar.

I don’t think you could sign any of those acts to perform at TV....however I could see a Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon) or Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers) doing so. I’ve seen both in some really small venues. I know the surviving members of Orleans play small charitable concerts, fairs etc as well.

Nobody is saying get the actual bands here, that's nonsense. We're just saying we'd like to hear bands that play that type of music.

Besides, REO and The Doobie brothers aren't part of that genre at all. We already have plenty of that old crappy stuff. Time for a change once in a while.

At some point the music here is going to have to start trending to newer stuff, as TV gets more younger people moving here that don't dig 60's and 70's music.
