I guess it would be fun to have a "Metal Monday". Although my preference for music is now towards smooth jazz or classical. I also like "Soundscapes" (I call it "spa music" on cable Music Choice. Not sure if that's included in cable in TV.

Do they have any Bob Marley/Reggae type bands?
Again, have Music Genre nights. This is a great idea. Ya think that some who sets up entertainment in the squares might want to experiment with this concept for a few months?

Well I hate dance party music as much as they may hate metal. What's fair is fair.

There was a band in a square about a year ago that played some Metallica and AC/DC and some grunge also. I recall seeing it on one of the YouTube channels. Someone on here mentioned that they haven't played since. The square was hopping with lots of folks enjoying the music.

Default Music at the squares

There are a few bands that play better rock....Relic is one of those. They are a newcomer to the squares and have several dates planned. Check their schedule on their FB page. Also, if its tribute bands you are looking for check out the schedule at Savannah center. We've heard quite a few good bands there. Not necessarily heavy metal but good classic rock.

It may have been Anti Idol. They were basically the Hooligans under and alias. And yes they rocked the place. It was packed and people were into it. They actually played music from this century. Which is unheard of here. lol

Yes, that would be awesome. Love the Foo Fighters.

Yes. But they don't play here very often. We need more like them in the rotation.
As I said, there's 1460 dates to fill. Surely they can find room for some newer music.

Go to Orlando. You will find all of that crazy music. They even have Moshpit groups.

Anyhow I’d love if the music modernized and added some harder rock now and then. I do hear 80s pop/new wave. But some metal now and then would be nice. I don’t expect to hear Slayer any time soon. But Ozzy, AC/DC, Maiden, that would be fun. It’s time for metal Mondays.
I definitely don’t want to hear any form of metal or rap. Those would drive away a lot of the audience that just wants to relax and enjoy. Of course, what I would prefer to hear would probably drive you away. I’d like to hear the Great American Songbook—Sinatra-type music. Or bluegrass. Or old country with a pedal steel guitar. Or bossa nova. These things are seldom heard in town squares.

Second Sinatra! I was born in the 1960s, but I thoroughly enjoy the standards from the 50s (Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan, Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, etc). I wouldn’t want a steady diet of that music at the squares, but an occasional night of this type of music would be very popular, especially with those who like to dance.

That would be sad. One of the things I love about the location of my house is being able to hear the music on the square on my lanai.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m 57…. A lot of the bands play music before I was even born.

Yes I’d love more metal, The Hooligans is a sad loss from the regular play list. Actually they played on our first night and were part of the reason we moved here!!!!

I also like rap and techno… but I kinda guess the 90’s music that I listened too is a little tooooo progressive… can’t see Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, Eminem and Dr Dray being on any cover bands set list….even though everyone of those musicians is old enough to be a resident….

How about some really good techno… a laser/light show… get down to some acid dancing…. Oh well… seems I will just have to pump up the volume at home and hope my neighbours share my taste in music 😂😂😂😂

Once Gen X starts filling in I except some more metal will be requested and accepted.

Maybe we can turn the square into a Mash pit. LOL.

Love to see bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, etc to come play at Savannah or Sharon or how about a Villages outdoor concert series at the polo grounds.

Just because you don't like that music doesn't mean they shouldn't play it here. Do you go to every square every night? No. There's room for all genres. If it's not your thing, don't go there.

Music is very subjective, and TV is trending younger. What we're saying is we need more variety. Again, there's 1460 dates open every year. Mixing in some newer music would be nice.
Open your mind, it's healthy.

Change is good.

I think what happens is the businesses pay for the square entertainment. They are interested in making money. So they will get the type of entertainment that will bring in the type of people who will spend money. When I was looking for a house in 2019 all the stores were playing such bad music that I only shopped with ear buds in. There has been great improvement since.
