Could someone please develop a " Decision Tree " to help many like me better follow and understand the original OP`s issue / message ?

If one has paid for a seat to enjoy an experience in a public exhibition space and another patron is causing concern or distress and most likely breaking a "house rule " or perhaps a Public Ordinance the response is simple : Locate a responsible party from Management and point out the issue and / or change seats .
How could such a decision process be that difficult ?

The OP only had to go to management explain that he believed but was not 100% sure that a person near him was smoking and then let management do their job. Management could then determine the facts.

Asian is the PC term
Who said that " Asian " is the correct PC term ? Where was it officially adopted and decided and when ?

What is the PC term for Black citizens of Canada ? Great Britain ?
I am from an area which has a reservation which spans both sides of the US Border . If " Native American " is the correct term for the inhabitants who live on the US side of a common Reservation is " Native Canadian " the correct term for those who live just North of the US Border which passes through their assigned Lands ?
Please some PC experts ---- help a guy out .

I suppose his large purse could have concealed an AK47 or an UZI.
BTW, I have an "Oriental" rug. Do I have to sell it and get an "Asian"
rug? I want to be PC, you know.

I sensed from the o.p.'s earlier posts that he feared or wasn't sure whether to fear for retaliation from the guy because the o.p. was the only person near him, up at the top in the seating.

After the Aurora movie theater massacre, at an action movie like the one the o.p. went to see, it is reasonable to be suspicious of a person acting weirdly and nervously while digging in a large purse or tote bag....and chain smoking while nervous and where smoking is prohibited.

The bag
could have contained weapons and ammo as the Aurora killer brought into the action movie setting.

Now I'll wait for all the ridiculing "far fetched" claims. But nobody I know ever would have expected massacres like the Aurora theater, nor in classrooms of first graders in an all-american town like Newtown, CT.

Take a look at what the Aurora shooter had at this link. As an earlier poster said, "See something....SAY something".

I agree with you except for your use of the word massacre.

The guy just was watching the movie and smoking either a cigarette or an e-cigarette. I only saw the huge purse after he got up and also while he was waiting for a toilet stall. The big purse is unusual but I kind of figured he was just someone who worked around Sumter Landing in a night shift of some kind.

My fear about reporting him was mainly that I do not have a big problem with smokers, but many do. And, the Old Mill Playhouse management probably know this man if he is a regular at the theater AND carries a large purse. He was about 160 lbs, maybe 5' 7 or 5' 8", no beard or mustache, very nice short haircut, slim build. Asian-American in appearance. Well dressed, too. Everything matched quite well.

And, it did not ruin my movie going experience. Now going to the management and worrying about what might be the consequences of reporting this person is another story. That probably would have put everyone in the theater at edge. I have never particularly liked causing trouble or making a scene. That's probably why I wanted to go into something involving librarianship and not related to the rough-and-tumble world of being an attorney. Even though there are many areas of law practice which are very dry and which most people would find incredibly boring.

The person could have been an agent of an International " Freedom " Movement and the " bag
" could have contained a " Dirty Bomb ".

Or it could have been a " Dry Run " . The smoking may have actually been a " test " as to how " Hardened " the Movie House Security might be !!!!!

I know you are joking.

Probably one in a million experiences in America involve something like the Boston Marathon bombing.

This man probably was sleeping when I came into the movie theater. I never even noticed him until he sat up when the previews started. He was sitting in the 3rd row from the back very middle seat just under the camera. I was in the first row from the back just under the camera.

I believe many avid movie goers sit in their favorite spots when they can. So, the Old Mill Playhouse or other Villages' movie theaters may find him right around those seats.

I was in the waiting room at the doctor's office yesterday and the man next to me was smoking an e-cigarette. He chain smoked it. I didn't smell it and the vapor didn't bother me at all. My husband smokes one and when we travel he uses it in the car. No smell. My son has one and his smells like a sweet flavored cigar, I don't like being around it at all.

What does the vapor look like? The 30ish man Wednesday looked to me smoking a cigarette as you saw tell tale smoke from the cigarette and interspersed between this the blow out of smoke from a smoker.

I did not smell anything either however. And, I am quite familiar with the smell of tobacco as some Doggie Doo Run Run regulars smoke. That dog park is very large so I can just get a little distance from the smoke.

I will try to alert Old Mill Playhouse on their Facebook page about this possible smoker-- 30ish, Asian-American, 5' 7" or so, 160 lbs, clean shaven, very nice hair cut and appearing very well groomed and dressed. Also carries a large purse.

I had thought this person was an African-American woman when I first saw just the back of the head. It was only when he got up to leave the theater that from the solid build I could see it was a man. And, I only noticed he was of the Asian ethnicity when I saw the side of his head and body as he was waiting to get into the toilet stall in the men's room.

What if he got tired of watching the movie and went home?

He watched the whole movie. He left after the trailer for the new X-Men showed up in the end credits. He was smoking every 20 minutes or so through the 2.5 hour movie. I would guess he had about six cigarettes or e-Cigs.

I also wanted to see the entire movie I had paid to see so there was also that problem if I had gone to get the management. I suppose if I had been with a date I would have gone and complained to the management especially if this date had a problem with second hand smoke and the like. I was alone like the smoker was. All of the rest of the 8 or so theater goers for this Wednesday 1:10 P.M. May 7, 2014 showing of The Amazing Spider-Man II were nearer the screen in the first section of rows past the entranceway.

The vapor at first glance looks like smoke but evaporates quickly and leaves no smell or haze. Normally the e-cigs are black, slim and with a tip. Although my husband's looks just like a real cigarette at first, but then you can tell it's not if you get closer.

Thanks. The Asian-American (or maybe even Asian-Canadian or Asian-French) was probably smoking a cigarette. Or, more precisely, six or so of these.

I just posted a note on Facebook to the Old Mill Playhouse about my experience with the smoker.
