ok.....i am joking, but if i thought this would stop the mad rush to florida's friendliest town then.......maybe it would not be so crowded at publix on a saturday afternoon!
Why wait until Saturday afternoon to go to Publix?

Yes, there are plenty of Pygmy rattlesnakes in the tall grasses on golf courses but just stay out of the grasses and you have no problem. Control the dogs not to go into the tall grasses and they will not get bitten - same for little kids.

I had never seen a snake in TV until our visit last July. I took our little dog out late at night and for some reason I brought my tall rubber garden boots with me on that trip. I put them on and as I walked out the front door there was a snake. I know they do good but I want to know where they are and dead is my choice. I stomped on it and kicked it out of the way. The next morning I checked the little guy out and it was a Pygmy Rattlesnake. They are small but so is my dog.
Now I am my Grandsons hero. Whenever I put my garden boots on he says " Grammy has her snake stompin' boots on."
The next day by Brownwood I saw a black racer crossing the golf cart path. Hopefully only one to go to make it three!

I would never attempt to stomp on a pygmy rattlesnake, especially after landscapers told me how fast their employee's leg got swollen and huge, red and horribly painful after being bitten by one of these "small", baby-looking things. They said to be ESPECIALLY careful with those horrible things.

I had a snake in my backyard Saturday, posted a picture on TOTV and was told it was a corn snake. Made me feel real bad about cutting his head off.

I guess that's how we get ourself into trouble. I had knee high boots on and was more concerned about my little dog and where the snake was going to be the next time I went out. When my daughter lived in Orlando early one morning she opened her door and a six foot black snake quickly got in and got behind her TV.

These threads just crack me up!

It is a wonder that I survived growing up and living in The Sunshine State my entire life.
