I have daily walked 2-3 miles for most of my adult life.....and still do @3-4 miles per hour....with the dog.

Almost exclusively multi modal paths(MMP) from Arnold Palmer CC heading South and then back.

All users, better than 90% show respect for each other space, right of way.
Better than 98% of the time is without incident.

Better than 70% of all who use the MMP say god morning/wave/nod/smile.

What usually happens is that too many threads dwell on the odd ball 2% that create problems.....no matter where they are or what they are riding/driving.

As many suggestions above advocate there are some areas that might be more conducive to walking......my experience is it is safe to walk just about any where using common sense and courtesy. And remember there will always be the 2% oddballs where ever on goes.

What area is good for the walker. 2-5 miles a day.
Doggie Doo Run Run has a big field of about 5 acres in its back section that you can walk with your dogs. There are dogs of all size in this area so if you have pooches who do not get along well with dogs of many sizes that might be a problem. In addition, you have to go through the big dog section to get to the back field.

Doggie Doo Run Run is near the intersection of CR101 and CR104 about 1 mile north of Southern Trace Shopping Center. Belvedere becomes CR101 north of CR466.

They charge $25 monthly or $3 per day. Believe it is $30 month for two dogs or $5 per day. Not sure about what 3 dogs is though.

Very nice people manage and own it and most of the customers are also very friendly but you do have to look out for the occasional first or second time visitor who doen't know their dog or just does not care about its behavior.

well said. If we could depend on 100% of people doing the right thing, we could go la la la la la down the paths without worry and we have the right to do that, but people please beware because that darn 2 % can have you canceling your next few tee times in a second.

What you say is true..I did say walk where you want but I also said obey normal safety procedures..that would include walking facing traffic and NOT wearing headphones.

They do not allow pets at Panara. Toojays will allow pets at the front, but not the side enclosed patio. Crispers allows pets on the patio. Of course you cannot take your pet into any restaurant when you order.

You can walk anywhere you want to....There is no walking police ....There are neighborhoods with walking trails.....My wife is a big walker and we live in Caroline so she walks up to Sumter to get her starbucks and walks the walking trail there then back...She has never had a problem with any grumps or anything else...99.9 % of the people will say good morning or wave as they pass you....Also there are several walking clubs here you might want to check out...

It has been my experience after living here for over 6 years that people are pretty accomodating. Usually any comments regarding walkers, bikes, etc express concern, and cautionary warnings and not hate dislike etc.
