I'm sorry for all of us who have to put up with rude, judgemental people. I was called out in Publix last week. I agree shopping isn't enjoyable these days.

I try to remember to be kind and helpful and lately have been really trying to make an extra effort. Life is hard enough without people who make it more difficult.

If I was in the same situation I would have loudly asked for a manager and then tore into him/her. If you want people to abide by your rules then the rules need to be posted in plain view for all to see. I don't need to be "told in no uncertain terms" that I was violating a rule that is not posted and I would demand an apology from the cashier for using that kind of attitude with me. I used to be very calm and forgiving when dealing with jerks but gave up that Pollyanna nonsense a long time ago. Treat me nicely and you will get the same in return.

I agree. I posted to him too, but it's gone.

We have a lot of new faces on the forum again. Really unusual during the time of year that we usually have fewer new faces. But it does add interest and keeps the post numbers up.

Don't anyone let this white hair fool ya.

It's so easy to be a Monday morning quarterback and say you would have said this or that, but rudeness takes us aback because it's so unexpected. Even though I don't understand rudeness and I definitely don't condone her behavior, I think you did the right thing by not being nasty in return 👍 Even though it's sometimes hard to remember, I try to say a small prayer for anyone I run across who's like this because that must be a miserable way to live.

I don't know Aldi's set up but in Publix and Winn Dixie it is easily 6 feet from the cashier to the end of the belt. If the customer is standing by the cashier, I begin to unload my groceries at the end of the belt and maintain proper social distancing.

I bet this is the same woman who tried to push me, in a golf cart, out of line at McDonalds with her van because she thought I had jumped the line. And then she yelled all the way to the cashier. I don't know what gets into people. I don't think they want to be rude, they just have a very rigid idea of the "rules".

You must be a genius. Let's see: old, white, and female; lives in The Villages? Not too many of them. Lesson to be learned: avoid surmising without the facts; that may lead to incorrect conclusions. Same thing goes for those who surmise she must come from New York. Plenty of rude people come from elsewhere.

She pointed her finger and said apparently you dont know how to listen. Wow, how rude. We are so concise of all things. I ha e never been spoken to that way. So, please be nice to one another. Shopping used to be a joy for me, but not so much now
The clerk told just to wait toll the belt stopped which would be when the last of the items ahead were to her. She was not upset.

The last time I was in Aldis, the cashier told me nicely not to put my items on the belt until the previous customers items were off. She then proceeded to spray and wipe down the belt. She then politely said that I could go ahead. I appreciated her effort to help keep the belts clean.

Tell her if she is worried, to wash her own darn hands and keep them away from her face. Problem solved. Don't let the grouches get you down.
