They aren't red light cameras, if they were they would have a sign posted on a pole at the intersection. Those small cameras up on the guide wires I see all over, even when I was back in Maryland. However, I was in Spring Hill last week, that's southeast of here about 60 miles where Weeki Wachee Springs with the mermaids is located. I had my Garmin GPS turned on, but no destination selected and I got a beeping alarm just before an intersection, when I was nearer I could see a 'Red Light Camera' sign. I've never had that alarm go off in this area, but I will definitely pay attention when I'm in other areas.

Obey all laws. You aren't "special" around here.

Or anywhere.

Was that directed at me?

What did I say that indicated I was a bad driver? Those who run red lights are bad drivers. I never said I ran red lights, I only said my GPS gave an alert of the presence of a 'red light camera'.

Personally, I never worry about tickets for the most part because my last ticket of any kind was in Atlanta 29 years ago. I don't run red lights, that's one of my pet peeves as well as drivers that don't know roundabout rules, right-on-red rules, driving slow in the left lane rules, using a turn signal before entering a turn lane instead of after entering the turn lane, drivers who never use a turn signal before turning, and any other driver that doesn't know how to operate on the highway.

My son got two red light tickets at the same traffic light in Linden N.J. on the same day. The ticket on the highway Rte 1 & 9 was more money than the ticket he got that morning coming onto Rte 1 & 9 at Stiles St at the same light. Several points to be made. He should have stayed home from work, he would have come out ahead. Anyone seeing the video would agree that he deserved the second ticket but not the first as he had someone tailgating him. It was revealed that these cameras were nothing more than a cash grab and increased the rear end accidents at several intersections. They have been turned off. Others may kick this around and feel like it a good idea but the reality is it isn't.

I am new in the area but know that people don't like to be delayed on their daily adventures. I have downloaded The Villages GPS and find it to be fantastic but once in a while it hangs up while we are in the golf cart. I wait until I find a safe spot to pull over and do so to reboot. The majority of people ask if we are ok or if they can help...we are out of the way...the kind people who want to help get ripped verbally by the clown's who gets upset that they were delayed a few seconds. Three times in a month. I couldn't care less but it upsets my wife. If we were not here I would get into the mix quickly...I'm trying to change, I'm going to change. Mrs. Nucky even said later that evening she was surprised I didn't go Code Red. I'm not raising children anymore..I'm going to find amusement in situations like this and just let it go!

Nucky - you have to be moving for the gps to track the golf cart. [emoji41]

Perhaps i misread it but it seems I ran across an article that talked about how the NJ LOE rigged the yellow caution light so that people ran the red light as recorded by red light cameras. so a judge got fed up with the income scam and the state had to remove their red light cameras.

No. It was NOT directed at you. I KNOW you wouldn't break the law.

It was a general statement. I have been saying stuff like that for years. "Don't break the law, DO not break the law in anyway, don't ever break the law, no one is going to help you in this family if you break the law."

Good parenting is based on repetition. It seems to have worked. So far.

And if I were driving to L.A. on I-10, I would tend to agree. But this is TV. To the extent that someone is going 10 under the speed limit on BV, Morse, ECR, 466 or 466A, they are easily passed just as the LSVs and cyclists get passed. Maximum delay I have seen for this , maybe 12 seconds.
This leaves the 30 mph. residential streets. The longest run I know of that you could get "stuck" on would be Morse north of 466, Canal St., Pinellas Place and Hillsborough trail. You would be unlucky if you were travelling the whole length of those roads and the "slowpoke" ahead of you was doing the same---they eventually turn off, so your delay is what?--2 minutes max?
Meanwhile , we have drivers in their 80s and 90s who may be uncomfortable with higher speeds. I'd hate to see someone who survived the Great Depression, survived WWII, and survived 9-11 killed because they were pushed to drive at speeds above their ability.

It stopped changing our position while I was on the move. I just pull over safely and reset and off we go. It really is a wonderful App. We would still be trying to get home without it.

Yeah....what he said. I don't feel comfortable going as fast as our cart can go and no one for any reason will push me into putting myself in jeopardy!

Didn't even know this man held office till he came to the rescue of the driving public in NJ. Declan O'Scanlon the tireless enforcer of this rip off Pilot Program. I largely credit him with putting the whole Red Light Racket out of business.

Speeding is a real life hazard here. We have seen it over and over. At the Tunnels, on the straightaways, we do 20, I made sure our cart was set max for that, and Joe Wizz roars by, passing like he is going to a circus to watch Bimbi? Note on TV sets, zoom zoom, watch the Tach jump up to 5K rpm. Oh, go to the track and watch them wiz by, how nice. We are a retirement community, if you have to speed like a maniac, do you really want to live here and jeopardize the lives of other people who are leisurely going along, enjoying the view? At 16 I was with a friend, he wanted to see what mom's car would do,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well the last I saw of the speedometer was at 105 and climbing, he turned too soon and was killed, I was in the hospital for two weeks being repaired. Slow down folks. PLEASE. Consider this,,,,,,,,,,, at just 60 mph you are covering 88 feet in one second. At 20 mph you are covering almost 30 feet in one second. Kinetic energy is deadly. Kinetic energy is very deadly, slow down.
