If it were feasible (and yes, I know it isn't), I would favor a rating system that set a "speed limit" based on the driver's ability.

Yes, I like cops.
Damned if you do stop folk speeding, and fine them, and damned if you dont, and have to scrape folk off the road when they are killed by someone speeding, and NOT in control. The boy racers, the median lane huggers, the "I dont know what to do at a traffic circle" folk, but get in everyone's way. All as bad as each other. SLOW DOWN. Why blame the cops, you are breaking the law, they deal with it, and the ATTITUDE you give them..... what a job..... no wonder they are leaving in droves.

I'm sure you've witnessed the mayhem that ensues when some bozo is going 55 in the left lane of an interstate, or even 25 on BV or Morse south of 466. Those drivers are not "following the rules", they are road litter and should turn their licenses in, because, as stated before, they might not get into an accident, but will surely cause one
… are you kidding me??? You think people doing 25 on BV or Morse are a problem?!?!? You can’t be serious … let alone there are round-a-bouts to deal with where the limit drops to 20! If this ‘argument’ we’re a 🥊 boxing match you would be counted out 🥳 …

This is exactly what I mean. Most cops are good, however those that are bad have an inordinate ability to harm, destroy or end citizens lives.

Absolutely a problem. As has been explained at least twice before, people driving significantly under the speed limit cause others to take action to maneuver around them. This means changing lanes on the straight stretches and possibly changing lanes in the circles. And if they are successful in building a line of cars behind them then it means a line trying to get into the next circle which everyone knows causes problems as well.

Plus, it is almost certain that the person driving significantly under the speed limit will want to turn left at a circle. To be "safe" they will place themselves into the left lane far in advance of the circle which will result in other drivers using the right lane as the passing lane.

If a driver feels unsafe traveling at 35 mph on Morse or BV then that driver should reconsider whether they should be behind the wheel.

Confirmation bias is real; I can find any number of articles that say so.

Absolutely!!!!!

I don't understand why some other people just don't get it. Again, I've been drawn into this even though I don't speed and don't have a dog in this fight. But since I'm here, I think there should be equal opportunity for a citation. In NY, the unofficial rule was "eight you skate, nine you're mine" referring to going 8 or 9 mph over the limit. I would add those same parameters to going 8 or 9 UNDER the limit. Also, how many left lane Louie's know they are REQUIRED to pull over if someone wants to pass, even if they are going the limit?

Sorry to disagree, but I am NOT wrong. I never said people significantly exceeding the speed limit were not a threat, but 5 or 10 above by a COMPETANT driver is superior to 10 below by a left lane Louie, and both are better than an incompetent driver whether that be by alcohol, texting or age. I don't have to "try aggressively" to get others to agree----the story speaks for itself, and there are plenty that agree. I doubt you will be among them

Not many people will understand what you were laying down. We come from a unique place where common sense, not the laying down the law to the letter was applied. I like your 8 or 9 M.P.H. examples.

People have to be careful of us Northerners. We use common sense way too much. We are even more dangerous when we is the edumacated type of Northerner, like you Dr. Unedumacated types are really really dangerous, like me.

I'm with you. I have no dog in dis fight. It's amusing that people think that those who have driven the way they do for a lifetime will change because they read it in a forum that it's bad to speed. WWJWD = What would John_W Do?

Yeah, right; really going to get tough on speeders for 1 week. Wow, I bet that took a lot of hand wrangling to do that.

I wish we had a no nonsense Sheriff like Grady Judd in Polk County. It’s time for our “never stop anyone” Sheriff to retire.

Lol...ask our beloved GracieGirl about that.

Years ago, before i moved here, i said we need to have a halal chicken and rice vendor.

Gracie didnt understan what that was..NYC street food from a cart. She thought it was high elegant food and said...we from the midwest are use to simple food like beans over cornbread.
Another poster explained...its far from fancy.

But thats our GracieGirl. Still trying to perfect making it at home. Once i do it...im delivering her a nice meal
