I prefer names to using numbers....in Ft Lauderdale we dealt with:
-NE 112 Street, Avenue & Terrace
-SE 112 Street, Avenue & Terrace
-NW 112 Street, Avenue & Terrace
-SW 112 Street, Avenue & Terrace

Default Street names

Just take two or three nice-sounding word and link them together to create a street name--even though it doesn't make any sense. E.G. "Mountain Brook" First, there are no mountains in Florida. Second, the highest point in Florida is about 350 feet--and is on the Alabama state line! In "Back to the Future", the town was "Hill Valley". In what Universe does that make sense? I'd be interested in other nonsense names of streets that others have found--in TV and elsewhere.

I have a vision of a bunch of pages from OED used as a dartboard in the dark.

Dart boards - one for the main name and one for the road type (Lane, Circle, etc.) 😉

In my humble opinion, the best street name in all The Villages is Oracle Ct. The worst name is a three way tie between Caulk Ct., Fink St., and of course Heiny Place.

Actually, Schwartz Blvd and Tarsson were named after the founders. I believe that some of the streets in Silver Lake were named after their children and grandchildren. Jennifer, Mark, Ann, Matthew, Jason, Kelsea etc.

There is a section where several streets were named after trees, Royal Palm, Beechwood, Weeping Willow, Silver Oak.

In Country Club Hills, the streets are named after famous golf courses. Pebble Beach, St Andrews, Turnberry, Hilton Head.

In Orange Blossom Gardens, many streets are named after flowers Rose, Orchid, Camelia, Magnolia.

I wonder if some streets in other areas had names keeping with the theme of the village.

Some of the streets in other areas were named after people who worked for the Villages in management position.

The confusion here is that we have streets with names and numbers.SE 167th Forsyth St.

SE 168th Trinity Pl.

What's up with that?

Personally, I find numbers confusing. We have all these county roads that are numbered and I can't keep track of where many of them are. Obviously we learn the main ones. 466, 466A ('sup wi dat) 44, 42, 301. But how many people know where 484 or 467 are?

When we bought our home in Monarch Grove, we were told the streets were named for 10 year employees of Citizens First Bank.

I'm looking at a map of Winifred. Arnold's wife's name was indeed Winifred but I'm looking at a map of The Village of Winifred and don't recognize any names that were relevant to Arnold.

There might be a few such as Pine Hills and Saybrook that are golf related but I don't know that they are specifically related to Arnold.

Of course I'm not an Arnold Palmer expert, but if these are names that were important to him they must have been pretty personal and not well known.
