Lots of dancers.
But maybe I could understand 5 or 6 words from all the songs belted out.
Anyone else have that issue??
Half time shows have been declining in quality for years. Most of the lyrics you couldn't hear were R rated so good for the youngsters to not hear them. Perhaps if the NFL would pay the performer they might attract some performers who would put a little more effort into the show. By the way I love Rihanna so I am not criticizing the choice of performer. There just seems to be more concentration on the theatrics than the content. Hey the commercials sucked too remember when on Monday there was more chatter about the commercials than the game

....yes, and it was fun to watch the outrage after because of the silhouette of his guitar which looked like a giant phallus.

Getting that many dancers all in sync, and the white was the perfect background for her red outfit. As for her clothing style, age very much comes into why you were unhappy with the choice. Many come from the age of women wore tents when they were pregnant, mostly hiding for 9 months.

In todays world women celebrate being pregnant, are proud to show how their body is adapting to bringing new life in the world. My parents would be appalled at a pregnant performer on TV for all the world to see. Me not so much, daughter loved it, oldest boy not a fan of her, but younger boy likes her music, also thought the stages were amazing.

Grandkids have “R” on their play list along with 70’s music they grew up listening to.

So age really does factor in if you, hated half time or liked it.
An excellent post. I am in total agreement with it.

Around the time I was in 1st grade, at a Catholic Parochial school in Cincinnati, I remember a priest advising the flock that the movie "L'il Abner" was on the "Condemned" list, because of the scantily clad women. I'm pretty sure his warning had the opposite effect of the one he intended.

I also remember a discount store, "Arlen's" I think it was called, being condemned because they planned on being open on Sundays.

Remember when The Stones had to change the lyrics from "Let's spend the night together" to "let's spend some time together" to appease Ed Sullivan and his censors?

I think I read once that audiences gasped out lout when Rhett Butler announced that he didn't "give a damn".

So, if you were deeply offended by the halftime show, I invite you join the rather large group of (mostly now dead) people who feel, or have felt, that any form of artistic expression that goes beyond the bounds of their particular sensitivities is vulgar, reprehensible, and proof of the "moral decline" of society. You'll be comfortable in this group. It's a large one.

My opinion is that it is a GOOD law. If a policeman goes "rogue", or is in a bad MOOD, or has a required number of tickets to write each day.........then they have NUMEROUS small items that they could use as an EXCUSE to stop a motorist. So, the problem is ticket "quotas" and BAD police attitudes, which are probably prevalent in just a few % of the TOTAL number of police in Florida. There does seem to be a nationwide AWARENESS of the need to RETIRE both older Policemen and women because of inflexible attitudes. And find a way on an initial applicant interview to search deep into the soul and psyche of the potential policeperson.

........One thing that I have found about ANY organization, including a given Police force, is that the whole organization tends to take on the personality of the TOP person (usually male). There is a county in Florida where at the peak of the Delta Coronavirus epidemic, this Sheriff UNILATERALLY DECREED that his deputies NOT wear masks. That IS a good example of how a top person in any organization can excessively influence the workers under their thumb.

I can't call that exhibition "dancing".

I agree but the news said the half time show with Rihanna got more people watching it, 118.7 million & the actual Super Bowl only got 113.?, they must have had more people under the age of 40 to 45 watching the half time show. Go figure!

Not totally sure of your point.

I think it is pretty obvious that the law enforcement around here know who the troublemakers and petty small-time crooks are, and traffic stops that result in an arrest for whatever petty crime, are an excellent way to keep the pressure on. If this is another way of doing that, then have at it. I'm in favor.

Why not bring back the days of tha marching bands? They could incorporate the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine marching bands to put on a terrific half time show!

because nobody would watch it, and advertising revenue would plummet. We may not appreciate the entertainment, but a very large demographic does, hence BIG $$$ for the NFL in advertising.

Why the desperate association with sex? Makes me wonder can’t they get any privately? And the other thing is, it is toddlers who are usually interested in their private parts.

Would bet most of the people watching are females who are there for halftime show and commercials and many leave as soon as halftime is over.

I bet you that same cis white male sheriff, undoubtedly a phobe in every respect, would also have refused to wear a red nose if ordered to do so. We need to eliminate such people. People who refuse to follow orders based on silly things like freedom and science. The sooner such people are gone we can look forward to a world where people know to follow orders without question.
