I am considering purchasing a stack washer and dryer. Wondering about a potential installation issues. When transitioning from a floor dryer, does the wall dryer vent have to be moved from the current lower wall area up the wall to where the stacked dryer vent is located. With the stack washer moved to where the dryer was on the floor, the current water and drain lines would not be directly behind the washer. Therefore, just longer hoses would be needed. Interested to learn about experience and issues with this stacking the washer and dryer.

Where does the dryer vent go to? Up through the ceiling and roof or directly through the wall to the outside.
I think you might have too many bends in the vent pipe if you are going 90 degrees toward the floor, then 90 degrees to the wall, then 90 degrees up to the roof. Last edited by rjm1cc; 12-26-2022 at 04:05 PM. |

We did it in our Begonia. Not a big deal to plumb. For the dryer, google “periscope dryer vent” that gets the dryer vent issue solved. Good luck.

It's doable, but if you have room for a side-by-side, I don't see how you gain anything. Why not just install some wall cabinets above the washer and dryer for storage?

Have them up north, and love stacked units. Our washer stayed in original space, with a 7 inch riser, so little bending down to retrieve clothes. Dryer also sits on 7" stack, and great height to get clothes in and out. Best buy installed so no issues, with switching to stack. Ordered new cabinet to match old one, easy install
Storage wise we gained lot of room. We have 10' ceiling, so small cabinet moved over top of stack. Keeping lightbulbs, and things we hardly use. The new floor cabinet is the size of a pantry with double doors slide out lower shelves, and goes to ceiling. We doubled our cabinet space, and used the old cabinet over our utility sink. Very easy to do, all 3 of new w&d units were stackable if we chose. Looks very organized, and definitely user friendly Will repeat process at our next home. |

Our new build went with giant washer/ dryer height is 38.7” because we ordered stacker there are spacers for both, but not sure how high. Stacked units now come in small apartment sizes, to the ginormous units we are getting at our new house. So very doable no matter how high your ceilings are just need to buy the Stack correct height
