$80.00 a month is super cheap for a Tesla... Here is what I got, but mind you it's AI:

The typical cost to insure a Tesla Model Y for a 66-year-old man with a clean driving record in The Villages, Florida, ranges from $2,400 to $4,100 per year ($200 to $342 per month) for a full-coverage policy.

According to 2026 insurance estimates, here is the average annual cost of full-coverage insurance in Florida.

Vehicle

Average annual insurance

Tesla Model 3

$4,041

Tesla Model Y

$4,058

Tesla Model S

$5,838

Tesla Model X

$5,726

2. Why does a Tesla cost more to insure?

There are four main reasons

Expensive repairs: Tesla body panels, electronics, and specialized components can be costly to replace.

Repair complexity: Some repairs require specialized equipment and technicians.

Battery damage: Damage to the battery pack can result in very expensive repairs or even a total loss.

Vehicle value: Collision and comprehensive coverage generally cost more for a more expensive vehicle.
These factors can make a Tesla more expensive to insure even if it has excellent safety features.
My model Y insurance is 1630$ a year at State Farm.

I don't know of anyone here in the Villages paying that much for insurance for a Tesla.

State Farm. 250k/500k liability with $500 deductibles on comprehensive and collision.

Not a veteran. Only discount is "multi-line" for having 2 cars and a house insured with them.
