It's my understanding the 15 min Supercharger charge gets the car to 85% of full charge, so that's not going to get you to the stated range. How long to charge to 100% to get to the stated range?

AI --- "Using a typical Tesla-owner Supercharger rate of about $0.43/kWh and a Model Y efficiency of roughly 0.28 kWh per mile, charging costs about 12¢ per mile—or $12 per 100 miles. A comparable 30-mpg gas SUV at $3.93/gallon costs about 13¢ per mile, or $13.10 per 100 miles. That’s nearly even; local Supercharger prices and gas prices can easily tip the comparison either way.

I don't think I've see many (any?) Tesla owners here unhappy with their car?

It’s the opposite, they are ecstatic. I consider myself a car guy, I have owned everything from a Ford Flathead hot rod to exotics. I’m going to be 83 in a couple weeks. I was one of those, I’ll never own an EV. I will be ordering one soon. I have no desire to travel long distances. For me it is the perfect Villages car. I have watched many YouTube videos of people traveling, and there is no problem. I already have a 240v outlet in my garage so I’ll be ready to go with the furnished charging cable.

The last 20% of range takes a lot longer per mile than the first 80%. So it's often not worth the time to go to 100%; it's easier to just stop a few miles sooner for the next charge on a road trip.

Even if that's true (I doubt it), virtually no one uses Superchargers except on road trips. For regular use, most people charge at home overnight, which is way cheaper per KWH, and can be done while sleeping. Also, you are neglecting maintenance costs like oil changes, tune-ups, etc, which are mostly unnecessary on EVs.

My chief concern would be road trips. I'm and A to B driver that only stops for gas, drive-through food, and Bio breaks on my standard 21hr (incl gas, food, drink, bio stops) drive. So, the charging duration and number of stops in 1300 miles matters. Spending an hour or more in additional charging time can make the difference between a same day run and having to spend the night somewhere along the way. Otherwise, running around TV, Florida in general with the Tesla's range would work fine for most things. The full self-driving cost I hadn't considered, but it would be handy since I understand you can basically turn it on an off (I assume on a monthly basis).
