This is my first post. We are currently looking for a home in TV. Questions: When does the train go thru and is it a problem? Is there a problem with sewage treatment plant and odor in relationship to certain villages? Has anyone read - The Villages Florida Book?

The trains go by often. We live in a Western village (Belvedere) and I don't find it a problem at all. As a matter of fact, we just sold a Courtyard Villa in Belvedere and bought a house in Belvedere because we love the location so much. A Lifestyle Preview would really answer a lot of your concerns and questions.

In case you weren't aware the train doesn't go 'thru' the Villages. It is to the west between TV and Route 301. There are a few spots that are more train dependent than others. Do a search up above as suggested.

Living in Liberty Park. We can hear it but it is not loud enough to bother us. Not all that often in my opinion .

If you live on the west side of the Villages YOU will hear the trains, sometimes louder that others, if you want to be safe buy a house east of Buena Vista Blvd.

We are in Hemingway (which is east of Buena Vista), in fact we are almost to Canal, and we occasionally can hear the train whistle. It is a very distant sound, but still audible.
I have not noticed any odor from the sewage treatment plants, but we don't live near one. I learned everything I needed to know to make a decision about living in The Villages on this website. I didn't need to read a book about it too. There is soooo much information on this website, you won't be disappointed when you start searching for some answers to your questions. Feel free to ask questions about things you can't find answers to! Happy hunting!

We used to live in Chadwick Villas in Piedmont and we could hear the train very clearly. It has to "toot" every time it goes over a crossing I think, and one night I counted 23 "toots". It drove me crazy. The people near Amberwood golf course (at least I think it's where it is) have the train going along just behind the trees - very close.
We are now down south of Lake Sumter and if we are outside we can very occasionally hear the train if the wind is in a different direction but it's very faint. We don't seem to hear it in the house. As regards sewage smell - we drove back home from Colony the other day up Morse and the smell was quite strong. Also it was very strong when we were playing on the Bogart/Bacall course a week or so ago. Hope this helps. |

Will someone please pinpoint exactly where the sewerage treatment plant is?
When you're looking at one of the $5 maps, is it that area just left of Bacall, just off Buena Vista, north of the District Office?? Across Buena Vista from Liberty Park? Do the people in the Villages of Largo and Bonita and Liberty Park have that odor to contend with regularly?? A lot of the new designer homes for sale right now are in the Village of Bonita. Thanks, Bob

We live in Bonita and have NO odor at all. The plant is at the intersection of Bonita and Buena Vista. The odor near the golf courses a lot of times comes from the reclaimed water used for irrigation on the courses.

trains are on the west side, up north, someone mentioned that above,
I'm in Hemmingway, have smelled some type of odor one time in almost 2 years, I think it may be more an issue out towards Liberty Park area, west of Buena Vista on the south end, but I'm not exactly sure, the book? spend a month here renting, and you'll know all the books says, and more, just talk to people |

We live in Duval and have heard the train one time. As for the sewer plant we could see it off in the distance before construction was completed but have no odor problem.
