With all the talk about bath tubs, how do they stack up overall? Our master never had a tub -- that is fine with me, and I'm thinking of replacing the tub in our guest bath with a spiffy walk-in shower. Comments?

We need a 4th choice in the poll. A walk-in shower is a must but oh, so is a tub; both are SO romantic!!!

At this stage in life I much prefer walk-in showers. Love the Roman shower! We are not in TV yet, but even in our current home I have considered replacing tub with another shower. The reason I haven't is a realtor advised that if we plan to sell our home we should keep at least one tub. I wouldn't think a tub would have the same importance in TV since a lot of people prefer showers as opposed to climbing in and out of a tub.
Now a hot tub is a different story LOL. When I move to TV my tub will be on the lanai!

I view a bath tub as a must have if you hope to sell your house. I like the walkin shower.

I don't call what TV offers a bathtub, but it is a great place to put the catbox. I want something big enough so I can stretch out and all of me but my head be under water. Not gonna happen in these tubs.

Have a nice big tub in new home. Wish it was more closet space.

I thought of the same thing Linda, but agree with some of the other posters about resale. However, how about one of those new walk in tubs?? Kinda neat as we get older?? Any comments??

There was a Premier home for sale with a walk in tub. That was the first time I had seen one in a home. My questions is... How much water does it take to fill it? It appears that you have to wait for it to drain before you can open the door to get out. Does anyone have any information on the Walk in tubs? ![]()

You could open the door before the tub drains if you want your bathroom washed.

If I didn't have a tub (with jets) I couldn't play golf. Need to jump in right after my round due to my back. Now If I had a jacuzzi outside that would be fine. Not sure if the tub in the 2nd bath would be big enough.

Very interesting response! So far overwhelmingly in favor of walk-in showers. We do have an in-ground hot tub in our courtyard which I dearly love to soak in. For getting clean personally I always choose a shower over a bath. Maybe in our case 2 showers instead of 1 shower and 1 tub would work.
At this point though I still haven't mentioned another project aloud. After the last one, my husband's eyes are still stuck in the back of his head from rolling them too far.

We have a walk in shower in the main Bathroom here in NH and a bathtub in the guest bathroom. When we move to TV, we will have the same. Even though I don't use the bathtub as much as the shower. I love the bath for soaking those achy muscles, light a few candles, soak with bath salts, have a glass of wine or tea and totally relax. Perfect for a good nights sleep....It sound wonderful I think I'll go fill the tub right now :-)

I voted for a walk-in shower only because there are so few tubs made to comfortable accommodate a 6' tall person. I love baths but hate the fact that knees stick out of water or I have to fold up like an according....which my body does not do too well anymore. If I could find a reasonably costing large tub that would hold about 18" of water I would love a tub! Maybe one day I will just need to have a hot tub......but bath tubs just aren't for me.
