Exclamation Statewide Vacinne Registration Question

The first thing one selects on the statewide reservation website, Just a moment... is to select your county. Should we register in multiple nearby counties? Or will be notified if a nearby counties has openings?

It appears as though you would need to register multiple times and select a different county each time. The website says,

"This website is being offered as an opt-in system open to all Florida’s 67 counties."

That sounds like each county needs to opt-in to use the statewide website as a queue system for their individual county vaccine program. But, it is definitely not very clear.

Multiple registrations only create accuracy problems i.e. inflated demand.
Also cheats those who play by the rules out of a possible turn in their county.

The above will be as impactful as stop signs, speed limits and no parking signs!

The website is not clear about how your county selection will be handled. But, it appears that if you select Sumter County, you will not be put in line for the Lake County or Marion County programs. I don't think it would be cheating to register in each county. All of the individual county programs will provide an appointment for any state resident. Just my opinion.

No, but if it were cheating, the website could easily screen out duplicate registrations.

Everything so far about the vaccine distribution seems to have been a surprise to the government; federal, state, and local.

Remarkable how little thought seems to have gone into this whole process

No profit motive. Most websites are operated by people trying to make a profit by competing with others. The good ones survive, the bad ones go away. Competition works.

If the people who set this up are still employed in their current positions the people who should have fired them need to go.

Seems if we wait for Sumter to figure it out we would have a long wait. I know several in our neighborhood that have received their shots in Orange, Lake and Marion. Only one through Publix and that was by accident when he stumbled on it the first day it opened. You may want to sit and wait but most I know are on the Great American Vaccine Search.

I think the issue is that a lucky few have gotten it in Sumter Co, but if you missed the first few days of the signup for the one behind Red Lobster you need to leave the county to get a vaccine. There is no way at present to sign up for one here in Sumter County.

So, the question is, is that going to change? Is Sumter going to be getting a large allotment of vaccines for those who have yet to get an appointment for their first round? Or are they going to get just enough for second shots for those that already had their first round and those that had appointments that were cancelled at the Site behind the Red Lobster? If Sumter is only getting the small allotment we’ve seen the last few weeks then it would be prudent to sign up for appointments in other counties.

They did have almost a year to figure this out.

For the past few weeks income supply is much smaller than it was early on. How does that happen and when will more get here so the rest of us who signed up can get the vaccine.
This is a no brainer. To me, it was totally predictable. You are trying to provide a free vaccine to everyone, with no competition, profit incentive, or accountability. It never had a chance to operate efficiently or fairly.

Supposedly there are hundreds of thousands of doses coming to FL per week.

The counties around us (and others) are getting a "stream" of some amount to allow for scheduling of appointments....not nearly enough but still they get enough to make appointments each week.

EXCEPT Sumter County......
with no reasonable.....forget reasonable....NO EXPLANATION.

Hence the flight of Sumter County residents to other sources.

What happened to The Villages....the biggest this....the biggest that...et al....except for vaccine....with ZERO communication what to expect.

GMR/saferestart shut down since 1/11/2021....ZERO communication of what Sumter County residents can expect.
There are just too many knowns to know or communicate nothing.

Something is starting to smell.
