as others have stated, most of the trash is from construction.....it has diminished greatly in Dunedin but the butts at the pool/mailboxes is still a problem. Much of the butt issue is construction too......they use our pool's restroom all day and when the lunch wagons were parked in the area they would wash their utensils in the restrooms too. When we complained we were told by the district that pools were public areas and workmen/women had a right to access to them. The one thing that stymied me with that attitude is why do I still need my ID when I use the pool?

A negative post, from a first poster is usually noticed by those who love this place and hope others do also. If there is a problem many will join in to try to fix it

I counted hundreds of cigarette butts in a short distance, along with empty water bottles and smashed pop cans, among other things.
This is disappointing. I have also noticed very unfriendly workers in restaurants. I am wondering if moving here was a bad idea!
I have lived here for ten years and not seen this type of problem. Seems to me someone is exaggerating for effect, " a LOT of trash," "HUNDREDS of cigarette butts." I challenge anyone to find a city of the size of The Villages that maintains as clean of trash environment as The Villages.

Where there are people you will find litter and rudeness, it’s all a matter of degree. A perfect, litter free, rude free, place does not exist on earth. During my short visit to TV I would say it’s better than most locations. TV is at the better end of the scale. IMO.

After you get used to the crowds, the long lines, the rude golf cart drivers, the entitled cyclists, the clueless roundabout drivers, the hidden dump smell, the frequent sinkholes, the seat savers (they are all non-TVers by the way), the lack of easily accessible healthcare, I think you will decide TV is a nice place.
Very optimistic. Could you tell me if my glass is half full or half empty?

Did you know that there are suggestion forms and boxes for depositing them? I suggested that trash cans be installed along the multi-modal paths. I did get a response! The response was "Janet T(?? Can't remember her last name) doesn't want them" So, there's your answer. Trash cans are bad. Trash is good.
As for questioning your decision to move here, you probably made a mistake. I suggest you relocate quickly. That will allow someone who wants a house here to get a good deal. And while you are busy selling, that will be 1 or 2 fewer people competing for tee times and slots in crowded activities. Buh-bye!

Trash cans would look trashy. Additional expense for collecting the trash from the cans, if( and that's a big if) people would use the can.
BTW about how many would have to be placed. I agree with Janet Tutt.

Besides that, the bears would get into them.
