I got a chuckle when I read the headline for this post. People do not start paying attention until money is involved. It may be costing a bit more, but in the long run better for the environment. Until a cost effective home grown (USA) recycling program can be developed, converting our trash to energy may be the best route to go.

Homes south of the Turnpike are already serviced with this option.
Recycling has become much less practical since Asian countries have wizened up and stop taking our "recycled" trash.

Because it's Sunday morning and I'm bored, I calculated the yearly increase at the 3.25 rate as stated in the 9 year contract with the new provider.

Starting Oct 1st, $22.24
Year 1 increase .72 to $22.96
Year 2 increase .75 to $23.71
Year 3 increase .77 to $24.48
Year 4 increase .80 to $25.28
Year 5 increase .82 to $26.08
Year 6 increase .85 to $26.93
Year 7 increase .88 to $27.81
Year 8 increase .90 to $28.71
Year 9 increase .93 to $29.64

Now excuse me, I have to go walk the dog.

Maybe where you lived but ours was figured into and added to our property tax bill
