Yes, you were correct Villages 07. Because of when I purchased my property, they only assessed me for the land this year. That was a pleasant surprise.
We closed on our home in Bonita on Jan 19, 2010. Our TRIM notice says Column 8: $1,449.37. And our assessed value is $137,350. Sounds like they're charging us more than the land tax?

Mak... did you buy an already-built spec home or did you have it built? Villa, designer, or cottage/ranch?

I believe the criteria is what year the home was completed/certified for occupancy, not when you bought it. So, if the home was completed before Jan 1, then you might be taxed on the full value and not just the land value.

Best bet is to call the Tax Assessor's office and get an official explanation.

Sorry, I shouldn't have used the word purchased. I think Villages 07 is correct that it depends on when the home was completed/certified for occupancy, not when it was purchased. My home was not completed until after January 1.
