Please read carefully before jumping. Where did I say you, he or they are NOT covered. You wrote:

The list I posted (and much more) below that comment is what they will NOT pay for (taken from an insurance website) because it isn't considered a covered flood loss. That I can say from actual experience and a $25K loss back in the mid 90's. One must read their NFIP carefully. The fact your agent said you don't need it leads me to believe you don't.
EDIT: And I repeat: If it makes you feel safer it is well worth having it.

Latest model (5AM Sat) now shows stronger probability now of a NON-direct hit on FL. But a coast-hugger. Good news for TV if this does occur - but no doubt still heavy winds and rains. Time will tell.

A coast hugger is good for us, no doubt. But it could be devastating for the coastal cities. Wind rain and surge plus a slow moving storm is a bad brew. Let's hope for out to sea

Yep, the east coast of Florida...is still not out of the woods.

In a sad irony, my buddy in Myrtle Beach texted me a couple of days ago to come visit him, play some golf...and get out of the way of Dorian.

I have since sent him the same invitation.

While we here in TV, and huge metropolitan areas in south Florida, MAY have dodged a bullet...there are still millions of Americans currently in danger.

Lady Fate is fickle. We do have water, canned goods and the like for the next hurricane on the horizon, though.

Yes. Still in 'don't jinx us' territory.

At this point, they are still counting on the storm being influenced by a high pressure area to the north. If that changes, all bets are off. If memory serves me, Andrew was forecast to make a similar turn to the north, and did not. South Florida got pummeled. Too early to say we're out of the woods.

WESH 4 news just said that as thing stand now (based on the 5PM NWS update) Sumter county should get ~1-2 inches of rain and wind gusts around 20.

To put that in perspective, yesterday (Friday) our PWS read ~1.5" inches of rain in a 3 hr period. I checked a couple other local PWS's and they also had 1.25 to 1.6 yesterday. Now I wonder how many of the people they showed on TV lined up at Orlando Costco will be returning their generators.

You are Damn tooting there Johnny! tuccillo is/was an invaluable help to our entire community in the past and I don't know the reason he's not here. If its a personal thing I'd help him if I could. What a great person who went to radio silence. If he took a shot somewhere along the line from another then I don't blame him one bit for taking a powder. If you do read this tuccillo many, many of us always waited patiently for your updates and miss you now. Thank's for your help in the past. Thanks for bringing this up CWGUY.

Off to the airport! Later Gators & Gatorettes!

Storms make me wonder about human nature. If people are concerned enough to run out and stock up on water and batteries, etc. a few days before a storm, why not just keep those things on hand? Buy emergency supplies or a generator when people aren't rampaging in the stores! It's not as if hurricane season is a surprise. Jeepers.

Keeping one's vehicle at least half full of gas isn't that burdensome, either.

You make more sense than the thousands of which you speak. It's the same up north when everybody rushes out to buy snow shovels, salt and the same food they rush out to buy here.
