Default Linden

We bought in Linden not far from the turnpike, we were very concerned when we first started looking at it. I spent a lot of time going there and listening for noise before we bought. We live very close to the dog park and literally don’t notice the noise at all. Only when we go to the dog park. We love the area.

And someday when they widen the highway, the noise will be unbearable. If you don’t like noise stay away from the new area down south. I know more than a few that lived there and they moved out into the real villages. The property prices with a bond are higher than they should be, they sell the villages lifestyle but that’s all a sales pitch.

The best thing to do is stand outside and listen at different days of the week and different times of the day. I bought a less expensive home close to the turnpike. The noise is constant. It is three (3) months and I am not used to it.

Well what are you waiting for? List it with Beth Pope of The Villages homes and get it sold, no sense talking about it here on a turnpike noise topic as you are losing potential buyers by the day.

Oh my God YES! All day and night. Do not buy near it. Stand outside at the house you are considering and listen.

Just FYI about the turnpike noise: we played Lowlands executive course last Saturday for the first time and were very surprised at the high level of traffic noise from the turnpike. We played Loblolly a few times and never noticed the noise at all- go figure!

If it is important to you then do what one of my neighbors did. She was considering a lot by the tee on a golf course. She took a chair and went and sat on the lot for a while at several times of the day. Ended up buying a non golf course lot due to all the talking on the course.

Amen to that. I lived on a golf course for 13 years, thought it was the cat's meow when we first saw and bought it. What a PITA, never again would I want to be anywhere near a golf course. We are now on water and what a difference, quiet, peaceful, and a lot of mother nature.

The fact that you are asking the question should give you the answer.

What do you think? You’re buying a home close to the turnpike with traffic 24 hours per day. I’ve read complaints from home owners complaining about traffic noise.

I suspect that in a few years, your "real" Villages will be the Historic side (above 44). The new generations will be looking for the lifestyle that exists below....well seems they already are based on the number of cars in driveways down there. We have friends the bought one block from the turnpike and have no noise, walk the one block and yep, it's noisy if your lot backs to the tpk.
