![]() Sucks when you might have a big Home Depot run. I can't live without a truck. Didn't have one for 4 months when we first moved here, it sucked. |

Yep, when my refrigerator when out rented truck cause didn't want wait for delivery days later. I my trade my car in for small 4 door pickup, I like the new Colorado's and they are only 20 inches longer than my car which should JUST fit in my garage, can't stand leaving my vehicle outside.

One car, one cart. No problem. Put very few miles on car anymore. If you need a new car or a van or truck to move things call Enterprise. Cheaper than paying registration, insurance on a second car for the few times needed or rent $19.95 U-Haul truck.

We have a car and a golf cart, and we probably use both
about the same amount! They each do certain tasks better. Someone mentioned missing a basement, but I sure don't. Can you imagine having a basement during a storm that dumps many inches of rain in a short period? Personally I consider it a plus, not have a lot of storage space, since it makes me really think hard about aquiring things. And I'm finding it more relaxing to travel a lot lighter in life! ![]() |

Had two cars, sedan and SUV, and two carts (have a 3 car garage). Sold the sedan then traded the SUV on a van. Now can use as a truck or put 8 people inside (cozy) when the need arises. Only use the car if leaving TV or inclement weather. Now having said that, I think it is important that you keep what you have for awhile and see what your lifestyle becomes when you are here. You could be like Chat and have a fear of driving a cart down here or like us and embrace the use of a cart.....you won't know that until you live it. Don't jump either way.

We came with two cars. We bought a gas cart with a jump seat (4 seater) about six months in. We sold the sedan and kept the SUV. Hubby plays golf. I don't....yet. (Getting intense neighborhood pressure.) When we discussed getting rid of my car, I was hesitant, and we reviewed the use and savings and it just made sense. The one smart thing we did at the time we sold my car was to sync up our electronic calendars, especially noting appointments where the car was needed.
We have an over sized two car plus golf cart garage. If/when we get a second cart, we have the ability to park them tandem. We love having the extra space in the garage regardless and we recommend getting the largest garage available. It costs more to move or to add on!!! It has been a couple of years since we sold my car and we have yet to have to rent the extra car. |

![]() I would keep the SUV. We moved in with 2 SUVs and bought a golf cart. Eventually we will go down to 1 car. Just not putting much mileage on them.

but the thread got long, and it took awhile to see your post. My thought about the vehicles....do nothing, let some time pass, and then go with your heart! |

Gotta agree with this. Maybe I'll regret it come winter (we've only been here since February) but I'm disappointed if we "have" to take the car for anything inside The Villages. So far, neither of us have needed to leave The Villages without the other, so we've never missed having the second car. We don't miss the insurance on the second car, either. And we like the extra space having a 2 1/2 car garage with only a car and a cart.

Sorry to hear your wife passed so recently.
We sold our golf cart as the paths near us went on the road and our hair stood on end a few times. We had an 12-year ok Honda SUV. Hubby came home with a new car for me as a present...the one he always wanted : ). We use the SUV constantly and even today wished we had taken it to Home Depot. We have moved, so when the SUV won't run anymore, we may get a gas cart......or not. |

Hubby and I were seasonal in TV for several years. We did not own a golf cart and only had one car for the three months per year we were in TV. That worked very well for us so we knew when we became full time here in TV that one car would be just fine for us. We are full time now in TV and have one car and one golf cart. It has worked so well for us. When the golf cart goes in for service, Gordon's gives us a loaner. Lexus will give us a loaner car if we need to leave the car over night for service. Other than that, I can't think of a reason why we would need two cars. Now that I've said that in writing, I'm sure the time will arise.

When we moved here full time, we had two SUVs and a golf cart. We sold off one SUV as we quickly determined that one SUV was sufficient for our purposes along with the golf cart. When you consider the extra cost of insurance and upkeep on an annual basis, for those few times that we might need a second vehicle, it would be far cheaper to rent a car.
Note: Our golf cart is a 2-seater. We determined that the extra cost and rougher ride of a 4-seater wasn't worth it to us. We would have to rent quite a few golf carts before we reached the cost differential between the 2-seater and 4-seater.
