Personally I’d stay with new. Places like home improvement stores have many levels of prices and include delivery and installation. I would go in, tell the salesperson your budget and see what they have

Best Buy has an outlet in Ocoee. You have to be selective, but you can get some good prices. We were told that they restock late Monday so Tuesday is the best day to look. Also, make sure all the installation parts are with your matchine. We picked a dishwasher that couldn’t be installed as it was missing a couple of those parts and Best Buy doesn’t supply them when they install.

There are also the (numerous) estate sales in and around The Villages. They're usually listed in The Daily Sun. The ones that are brokered tend to be pricey, but there are also non-brokered sales as well as garage sales, several-family rummage sales, etc. I'd check them out as well.

If, I understand the original post they are not able to move or install the equipment. Stuff is simply not made to last. Our previous home we were still using a Maytag washing machine that came with the used house when we bought it. We lived in the house for 40 years and it was still working.

I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but I will relate my experience of purchasing used appliances (note: this did not happen in the state of Florida). The establishment only sold used appliances. I don't know how they obtained their inventory, but they fixed or refurbished everything that they sold. They also provided a very limited warranty. At the time, we were in the process of building a new house and had to move into a rental home temporarily until our new house was complete. I needed a washer/dryer because the people who bought the house that we sold made our existing washer/dryer part of the terms of their (fabulous) purchase offer, which we had accepted. The rental home did not provide a washer/dryer, so I only needed something that would last 6 months because our new house came with a washer/dryer. I selected a 50 year old Kenmore washer and dryer off of the sales floor. They were as basic (in features) as you can get. They were delivered to our rental and installed flawlessly. The washer worked for the first cycle while the delivery people were there, but never again. The store immediately took away the nonworking unit and provided a replacement. After that, everything was great. I loved those old Kenmore appliances and wished that I could have taken them with me to our new house. They just don't make solid appliances like that today. So, if you can find such a place locally that refurbishes old appliances, and stands behind their work, don't be afraid to purchase from them, and maybe the older and more basic the appliance, the better. Our old washer and dryer were incredibly inexpensive and I think we could have easily gotten another 10-plus years out of them. We left them in our rental for the next people to enjoy and our landlord was happy.

Watch "Talk of the Village Classified" ads. Also, check out Craig's List (Ocala). If you find something, but don't have the ability to transport and/or install the appliance, call Jeremy Caswell (Handyman) at 603-833-3213 to pick it up and install it for you. My wife and I picked up good used appliances and installed them ourselves, which saved us a LOT of money.

call mvb appliance ..stores in Ocala and leesburg. leesburg store has selection of used, repaired appliances because when they deliver new to the villages they take away the old and refurbish them. good place for repairs too.

My wife had good luck with used at Appliances Direct. We bought new from them and were very happy.

I’ve bought appliances from this sight in the classifieds and on market place for excellent prices. Sometimes people just didn’t like the colors and replace all of their brand new appliances. One time this lady had three sets of washers and dryers and needed to get rid of them.Just this week I bought 5
upper cabinets from marketplace that were only 2 yrs old for my utility room. BUTyou have to move fast because they sell quick.

Buy low end, new appliances. Used appliances are too risky, especially if you cannot repair them yourself. And, do not pay anything for extended warranties.

I got a great deal at Best Buy for a washer and dryer that had minor cosmetic damage.

They were not matching which is a good thing since the LG dryer had major issues. The Westinghouse Dryer and LG washer have been awesome.
