Two grand is about the going rate for a car that can be towed to its new owner and be stripped for its useful parts.

Sure, all the time, if you can pay in 1982 dollars.

What's the old saying, "One man's trash ..." You get it.
Depends what is desired in the "discount" car. A non-discript, reliable but undesirable model might be the right choice for a number of reasons.
Or, it could be one is looking to restore something unusual just for fun. Or, is looking for a cheap 2nd car for use on rare occasions when a golf cart won't cut it.
Keep looking, OP. What you are looking for is very likely still out there, somewhere.

Car buyers like Vroom and Carvana will make a good offer on a used car these days and there are scammers out there looking for cars.

2K? Just bought a 2010 Honda CRV and dealer wanted 10K for it.

Lastly not a lot of low priced cars in the TV area as most are low mileage vehicles. We drive 4K a year.

That was part of the auto industry bailout.

Just sold a 2007 Accord with 157K miles for $5,700 and could have probably got $6K…..could have driven the car across the U.S. with no issue. If your looking at $2K your still liven in 1980’s?

I have Lexus 2002 in excellent condition. It does have a lot of highway miles (218,000). That being said, it has a six disc cd and cassette player, new Michelin tires. It’s deep white pearl with gold medallion series. Asking $5995.

There is a YouTube channel dedicated to this called "Car Questions Answered". They are showing cars on dealer lots for 3k. Good luck!

I have to disagree but I will admit that you do have to know how to service cars yourself and how to use a obdII scanner.

In1982, I purchased a used 1968 4dr Mercedes for $2000. Over the following year I learned that a $2000 Mercedes is the most expensive car on the road

Not in my district streets are private.

Definition of "decent"......each person would have a different definition of decent. Some would want a mechanically strong drive train and not care about rust, paint, or dents. Others would want a clean LOOKING car and figure that they could replace any bad drive train parts. One big mistake that many make in Florida is buying a dark color car because in the summer it will burn your hand and take a few blocks to cool down.

Theoretically, electric vehicles have all the advantages over gasoline or diesel. Better acceleration, better braking, better cornering, better for the environment, quieter, no odor, no fuel stops, lower operating cost, and more reliability. The only disadvantage is long distance and lack of charging stations. So, if there is ANY disadvantage that I am NOT aware of, I am sure that it will be rectified in the future. Europe has twice as many new E-vehicles as the US. I would say that we are the backward ones.
