They had left the green, rounded the bend on the cart path on the other side of my green. Looked back and saw my ball hit the green (Pin high btw), slammed the brakes, put it in reverse and walked to my green, looked down at ball and yelled at me if I hit the ball. When I said yes, the cursing began

Sounds like it was time to tell to tell them to kiss your ..... and get off your green.

It sounds like the golfers were still 'in range' when the OP hit his shot. In that case, I think the golfers were totally justified to yell and curse at the OP.

It is terrible to hit a golf ball and intentionally endanger another person.
OK, I'll play this game:

From the OP:

"On the 8 hole after they started to leave in their cart and rounded the bend, I hit my shot." So yes, HE DID STATE THAT. In addition, if they were leaving and ROUNDING THE BEND, they were off that hole, out of range, and not in danger. This is a tiny exec course---it's not like he was trying to hit a 3 wood 250 to the green and caught it flush for 280.

BTW, do you actually play golf??? I'm inclined to think not, because a golfer is not likely to scream and curse even if a ball comes somewhat near them. They realize the nuances of the game and will generally politely accept an apology. And most golfers would not consider it justified to curse and yell

No offense, just correcting the record

After reading endless posts from golfers here onTOTV and hearing complaints, in person, from golfers.

Golfers are the most entitled and complaining folks in The Villages.

I think not. I think it's a tie between those that want to use a golf course for something other than golf, and line dancers

Oh, yeah, and residents of Harmeswood

You didn't have a tee-time. The people ahead of you did. They are "entitled" to be there. While you "can" be there, you're not "entitled" to be there, because you didn't have a tee-time and showed up after the last tee-time. You should've waited til they were gone. As the people who DID have the last tee-time, they DID have the right to use it as their practice range. Until 20 minutes after dusk. You, on the other hand, did not. You "may" use it, but you are not "entitled" to.

I take it you don't play golf either. When playing a round of golf you are NEVER entitled to use it as a practice range, that what a practice range is for. People who play 4 and 5 shots from the same area are creating excessive wear and tear on the course (and probably the first to complain about conditions). And yes, before some wise guy posts it, I am aware of the practice rounds that precede a PGA tournament. Those are not held on exec course in TV.

Thank you, saved me a post which would not have been nearly as nice as yours

I think we need a thumbs down icon.

I was lenient because I perceived ignorance on her part

I appreciate the kind correction on that. I misunderstood what was meant by practice range, being someone who doesn't play golf, as you surmised. I thought they were talking about just - not being very good, and needing an extra shot or two on a few holes here and there, while not really being vigilant about scoring.

Hence, the leniency

It's OK, I still love you

In my opinion, based on playing golf for over 60 years, you should have let them get farther away before you hit. It was very wrong and very inconsiderate for you to hit when they were close to the green.
