CenturyLink landline - 46 mbps
T-Mobile 5G - 59 mbps

The cost is nearly the same, although CenturyLink is a hair cheaper. Since CenturyLink has been extremely reliable, I am not motivated to switch at this time since both of those speeds are more than adequate for our use.
I have Q.com which is centurylinks fiber optic 1 gig service. $60 month and a $200 sign up bonus
Fast and reliable
Streaming multiple devices is not an issue

Don’t want to sound like a complainer but sorry that’s the exact complaint I had with Verizon they would give you a price then up the price right away. Had other issues with Verizon but usually they had pretty good service!

Not available where I live. I have their twister-pair service which utilizes old phone lines.

Default Data Cap??

Any idea what the monthly data cap is? That’s important for video streaming. 😎

HiFred, is this Verizon FIOS ?
We have FIOS in NYC & it is great. Our house in The Villages has Xfinity which is NOT great. We are moving to the villages soon & I have been a little concerned about internet service.
Would love to have a seamless internet transition.

Strange thing is I get 5G and 5G UW on my Verizon MVNO iPhone 13 Pro and my wife's 13 Mini despite what their website says. Download speeds often EXCEED 400-500Mbps but average around 200-300Mbps.

My feeling is they just don't have enough bandwidth available in The Villages as they have (from what I could find) only 1 tower so the reason might be more due to lack of bandwidth that has to be shared with the dozens of Verizon MVNO's out there besides their own.

Sitting on the couch in my living room as you can see I am getting over 400Mbps 5G using USMobile (a Verizon MVNO) so they have plenty of signal, it's just their infrastructure can't handle the volume of users banging away on their data constantly (streaming etc) unlike cell phones which are mostly intermittent use of data. Sadly Tje Villages generally won't allow towers on their property (I guess unless they make a huge donation to the Dev because there is ONE on BV).

Verizon 5G works over the cellular service - there are no wires, fibers, or cables to your home.
Verizon FIOS is their fiber-based service.

T-Mobile is another 5G internet offering. There are multiple cable-based and fiber-based offerings depending on where you are in the Villages. All are the best or the worst depending on who you listen to. We have had Xfinity internet for over two years now with only a single extended outage (4-6 hours).

Good assessment - agrees with what I was seeing with T-Mobil.

There are times where web pages won't even load when connected to the turnpike tower.

I can quickly think of 3 on Villages property between 466 and 44: 1) water treatment plant at Buena Vista Blvd and Bonita Blvd, 2) water tower at Turtle Mound executive course, 3) water tower at fire station across from Eisenhower rec center.

OP, you wrote that you pay $45/mo. to Verizon with the senior discount...and I'm guessing that you had that plan previous to the 5G service you switched to

I spoke with Verizon wireless last week to see if they could go lower than the flat rate $68/mo. senior cell plan I have with them. That amount includes taxes, text, data, etc.

They said that I had the lowest deal....what is the senior discount that you're using with Verizon called?

You sure they are all commercial cell towers and not public service private repeaters? Are the others county property of The Villages property? BV is cell for sure. Couldn't find the other 2 listed in the various cell databases. The one on BV seems to be AT&T. Nearest VZW tower I found to the Villages is somewhere just on the edge but out of the bubble.
