Yep.

Actually many of those snowbirds pay more than we do - because they don't get the homestead exemption.

There's nothing requiring people to wear a mask in anything opening during phase II. The only mention of masks is that you have to bring your own. So if you CHOOSE to wear a mask - that's great, but the rec centers and pools will not provide you with them.

Default Masks required

According to page 7 of the Rec News from this week, rightly or wrongly, masks are required in The Villages phase 2 for all indoor and outdoor activities (of the rec department)*. The Villages phase 2 begins Monday, May 4.

*Of the rec department added by me.

It remains to be seen how that is defined.

Are you sure about that?

It depends on where they live. TV taxes for us is less than our property’s up north. So homestead here makes no sense.

I'm sure it makes no sense for you, because your tax down here is less than the tax up north. But your tax bill down here, without qualifying for homesteading, will STILL be higher than someone who DOES qualify for homesteading for the same property.

According to the PDF provided directly by the Community District Governments as of April 29, 2020, there is no (as in, zero, none, zilch, nada) reference to any requirement of wearing masks, whether in or out of buildings, effective May 4, 2020.

Here's the PDF from the CDD: https://www.districtgov.org/PDFView/...20200429001301

There are lots of guidelines and rules about what you can and can't do, on that PDF. Wearing masks is not among them EXCEPT for the notice that masks, gloves, water, hand sanitizer, and equipment will -not- be provided.

I don't get the rec news, I don't get the Daily Sun, and whenever I try to follow a link to the Rec News section of the Daily Sun online I get a black PDF with no text.

It's not May 4 yet is it? Perhaps on May 4 those signs will be taken down.

And as far as I know, no one is being instructed to wear masks while they're walking at the parks (which are run by the rec centers), or on the executive courses.

Regarding mulligan's post about buying subscriptions: If there is something important that the rec centers need residents to know, it needs to be made accessible to ALL residents. Not just the ones who pay extra for a subscription to the local newspaper. If they need for me to see the Rec News, then they should have a website dedicated to the Rec News. Not a subdirectory of a paid subscription site.

Or they can accept that some people just won't have access to this information - which implies that they didn't think it was all THAT important afterall.

As I said twice already: when I click on that link, I get a black PDF file with nothing on it.

Turn off your ad blocker and it will work. I had to do this to see it.
