Water Filtration Testing
I just moved in last week and I'm getting a lot of calls from different water filtration companies wanting to set up an appointment to come out and test my tap water. One company claimed to be the Welcome Wagon. Is this testing necessary or are these companies scams?
Thanks for your input, Kathy |

Water Filtration
Generally they are scams. There is nothing wrong with the water in the Villages. Before you do anything check with Seniors vs Crime. These "Water" companies sound and look official and you will find the sad facts about them thousands of $$$$ later.

Welcome to you.
I so agree. They are just trying to sell you something you don't need.
However, I must warn you that if you have friends visiting from back home and you get your best pitcher out and fill it with the tap water and add cherry Kool Aid and ice and you sit out on the lanai and drink it, than those friends will leave your home and within six months will buy a home in The Villages. If you don't want them to live here, serve them beer. I am teasing you a bit but my welcome to you is warm and genuine. I hope that you love every second of your life here in Paradise with us. Gracie - thank you for your warm wishes! I would love to meet you at Crispers when you and Sweetie get to The Villages.
I'm going to attend my first TOTV luncheon this Friday! It will be fun to meet everyone! Thanks, Kathy |

By the way, there is a lady that goes around with a big basket of goodies that calls herself "the welcome wagon". Let her in! She has all kinds of good coupons including a free annual service for your golf cart (worth about $50).

I thought the calls from the water filtration people would never end. The GE lady came out and among everything else proceeded to tell us that any vet in the area would tell us that this water is harmful to our dog . Well after she and my husband had a bit of a disagreement...she had the nerve to say what's the matter can't you afford it, before she turned and clicked her way out the door (without the sale...mind you)

I'm so glad you didn't let any of those crooks come muddy the waters for you. So to speak. |

After the 5th one called, I let one come by... gee he "forgot the fruit basket". Well, my Britta filtre cleaned the water as good as his system. I know we have hard water here. I had harder water in Los Angeles. I just don't drink in it. But it was so much fun to watch the inept man try and convince me that his system was needed when we all have filtres in our new fridges. I can wash the clothes in hard water. I'll live with that. |

I told them repeatedly over the phone I am not buying beforehand, he came over anyway without any coupons =Welcome Wagon, proceeded to act like a mad scientist pouring his different snake oils into these little things of water, wife finally got mad and threw him out. Noticed when he went out the door proceeded to catch him in his backside to boot!
I looked outside to see if he had a covered wagon with his name and elexirs on the side. |
