Either word is VERY unnecessary. It is the snowflakes and snowbirds that bring lots of money to The Villages. Think about that if you will.

Each resident is going to tell you that where they are currently living is the best place to live, and will have very good reasons. Every one of them is correct, for them. Each area is a little different, you just need to find the one right for you. Study all of the responses here, study maps of the area, spend some time renting and tooling around yourself before you decide. Happy hunting!

We live in village of Belvedere, 672 Smithfield pl, you can golf cart to every where, Walmart, Publix, Walgreens, CVX, lots of doctors,,Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter are a 10 minute drive by golf cart. I bought in Lake Sumter in 2017 after extensive looking in that area for several reasons.One is, if you're in the middle of The Villages it's a shorter ride by golf cart, north or south to go out to the Squares for dinner/dance.Second was I wanted natural gas and due to a conflict w/ the owner and the gas company, the owner booted them off the property during the construction of Lake Sumter. The gas stopped approx. in the middle of Lake Sumter, so it's electric only, middle to South but has been put back in the mix in the new areas so I hear.
One more thing,,,,,,,do your homework and check out homes on The Villages Sight and be ready to pull the trigger should something come up that has everything you want.If it's a pretty good deal, it won't last long and your search will continue. Just say'n..... |

I agree with villagetinker….you should come down and spend a few months to see that you like.
As far as the north end. I personally think the Glenview area is less centralized, but very nice. You tend to get more property and the Bonds are typically paid. I think each area has it virtues. They say everyone in TV thinks their village is best....and that's a good thing. When we bought, I was more concerned with micro-location, rather than macro-location. What I mean by micro-location is: View from the Lanai, how private is the Lanai, do I have a golf cart path up against my Lanai, am I too close to pickleball and have to hear that noise, am I too close to the town square and have to hear the music every night, am I too close to the Polo field and have to hear that loudspeaker, what exposure is the lanai ( I like southern), etc.... But again, this is my personal list and priorities, yours may differ. I love TV and the people, but my privacy and solitude was important to me. |

It’s hard to tell you what area is the best area. Some people think certain areas are the best because it suits their taste for one reason or another. Our realtor told us the average times most people move is 3 times, we moved twice. You’ll find out when you buy your first house because you’ll be able to see more areas & find out that certain areas have something that suits you. Buy where you want that suits you because eventually you might find another area that you like better. All areas are nice & some areas you might like the people better. Find an area that you like & see what they have that you like, because chances are you might want to move again. But if it’s your first house in TV, check & see how the housing market is there just in case you want sell & buy another home. Selling a home is getting tough because there’s thousands of homes to sell & lots of competition. You’ll find out after you lived there for a while. You’ll love TV! Buy where you want, not where someone thinks you should buy.

All of the above responses are correct but the most important thing is to drive around and look at the various neighborhoods and what amenities are near by that are of interest to you. South of route 44 the new homes AR less expensive then older homes and the area is quite beautiful with all the big old oak trees covered in Moss. That whole area has many beautiful walking biking trails if walking and biking is something you're interested in. It's a more quiet area but in five years it will be just as built up as other sections of the villages. Two of my friends have moved south of 44 and I just bought a house down there now myself as I wanted waterfront and couldn't afford it north of route 44. Go look at the new village of de Luna as it has gorgeous old trees and walking trails in the bridge to Brownwood is going to be put up there very soon. You can also go from deluna on a new road that connects you right to route 301 which is very handy. Good luck and your search but definitely come down and at least drive through different areas but preferably rent to try out an area first.

Areas ebb and flow. When I moved here in 2011 I was 61 and played softball. My village, Tamarind Grove was just built and we didn't have a team yet. I played for Calumet Grove, which is at the north end. On the team, I was the youngest player. The coach was 76 and everyone else was around 70. That was 9 years ago, many of those have passed on. So now Calumet Grove might be different. I'll be 70 in July, my village has certainly changed. The ages come and go, people die, people move.
Personally I love where I'm at, halfway between Brownwood and LSL. I've been in the north, I go to the VA at Mulberry for medical treatment, have played golf at Lopez. It's far too quiet and far too far from the stuff I enjoy. At my location I can reach 8 championship golf courses in my cart within 25 minutes. I go to MVP Gym at Brownwood many days a week, and it's only ten minutes by car. I like the music setup at Brownwood and LSL. I like the shopping at Colony and Trailwinds, we have a lot of stuff here. If I want to go to 441/27 to Target or Best Buy, or a restaurant it takes 20 minutes by car. |

Look at Google Earth and use the history slider to see the progression of construction and use Zillow and set for For Sale and also Sold. Rentals are there also.
We did all of this a couple of times and ended up at On Top of the World in Ocala....................... |
