79 in the summer, 72 in the winter. It doesnt have to be that cool indoors in the summer, just maybe 10 degrees cooler than outside

We find 79 daytime and 74 bedtime a happy compromise between my wife and I…I like it cooler she likes it a bit warmer, but the humid inside stays under 60%.

Age comes in to equation..it seem the older you are the warmer you keep you home. My in-laws 80 year round. Parents 79 year round. And they wear sweaters.
Our house 72-74 day sleep 69ish

According to the experts, if you raise your thermostat just one degree in the summer, you will decrease your electric bill by 2 percent.
So if you normally keep it at 72 degrees, increasing it to 79 degrees will save you 14% on your energy bill. Is that true? We have a broad range of temperatures listed so far. What is the square foot of your house and what is the average monthly bill? Does it pay to turn the thermostat up? I have about a 1500 square foot house and usually keep the temperature at 78 during the day and my monthly electric bill varies from $100 to $150 a month. |

My home is 2070 sq ft and an enclosed lanai of 390 sq ft. I keep the AC at 74 24 by 7. The pool runsabout 8 hours a day. My most recent bill was $220 which I think is inexpensive.

During the day, the outside temperature is usually around 95 degrees and during the night, the outside temperature is usually around 75 degrees.
Why does everyone turn the air conditioner down at night - when it is much cooler than during the daytime? |
