I hate retractable leashes. Not only are they extremely dangerous, there is no dog that needs to walk 12 feet away from you. I wish people would realize how little control they have with a retractable and use a good old-fashioned 6 ft lead. I love my dog way too much to ever put a retractable on him. My dog is by my side and I try to get him to an area where people don't walk and I always pick up. Wouldn't have a dog if I wasn't going to be a considerate and responsible owner.

He then took the dogs back across the street.

I watched, waited and finished my coffee and the I went and picked up what his two dogs left behind and returned it to him. He was a bit surprised. He told me he always picked up after his dogs. Well he didn't this time so why should I think this time is different from any other?

Here's a question. Who ever said it was OK to use a neighbors yard as long as you pick up after the dog? Where did that come from? How did my yard get mixed up in what you do with your dog? Your house, Your dog, Your yard!!! Not mine!!

Please, if you want to walk a dog, let it use YOUR YARD and then go for a walk.

Thanks.
Wing-nut, I sing your praise, my sentiments EXACTLY!!!!! I would only add that our yard is now free of the pet parade because of new "NO PETS PLEASE" sign!
As previously posted, we had pets that left Peeee-mail after Peee-mail on SAME spot until grass turned brown!...Now the sign seems to work!

Default Dog poop threads and stories seem quite common online.

Ex-CNN Executive Busted Putting Dog Poop In Neighbor’s Mailbox - TVNewser

I did a search of dog poop threads on various other massage boards and people not picking up poop seems to be a big number topic all over the world.

Did run into this story from Atlanta as well. The prankster-- a retired college journalism professor and CNN executive-- could have been hit with substantial fines though for vandalism to US property (the mail box).

I had a neighbor who let his dog run free when I lived outside Minneapolis and also returned the unwanted gifts back to him. I called Animal control several times and it did no good. The day i was leaving to come to TV he stopped by and lamented on how sad it was that we didn't become better acquainted. So apparently this dog owners was oblivious to the problem.

I suspect there are a lot of dog owners like that and I suspect there are a lot of pet owners who have no idea that there are people like me who just don't like critters. However, I do like babies

Somehow this thread doesn't seem right without the opinion of Bill-N.
He must be traveling on the way down now.

Apartment Hires DNA Lab To Tackle Dog Poop Problem
May 25, 2012 10:19 PM

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO)
– It’s become serious business when a dog does its business at a Roseville apartment complex.
Rosedale Estates North was having problems with dog owners not cleaning up after their dogs.
“It was bad,” said dog owner, Melody Pomerenke. “I would have to have a separate pair of shoes to go outside. It was not good.”
In fact, the poop problem got so bad that property managers hired a company called Bio Pets Vet Lab to start a dog DNA registry.
As part of the lease agreement, DNA swabs are taken from a pet’s mouth and sent to the Bio Pets lab, where they keep the DNA on file. Should a pet owner not pick up after their dog, the poop is sent into the lab to be tested for a match — and the guilty party is identified.
“It’s been positive after that initial laughter,” said property manager, Cheryl Gallo. “We just started last month.”
Pomerenke’s Chihuahua Dino was one of the first to submit DNA. He’s innocent…for now. Good thing, too, because the fine for the first offense $100.
“You can see someone letting their dog go to the bathroom, and they will still deny it,” Gallo said. “This way, there is no denying it. I thought it was a great idea from the beginning.”
Rosedale Estates just had their first offense. They have a suspect in mind, and the testing is taking place at Bio Pets Vet Lab.
The second offense is also a $100 fine, and the dog can no longer live in the apartment.
Many renters seem to be OK with the DNA testing, and they say the situation has already gotten better.
