This will be our first winter in TV. Can you please suggest what type of clothing we should bring down.

Winter here is (for the most part) warmer than fall in New England. People who have lived here for a while will tell you that it gets cold. I found last winter to be fine in shirt sleeves. (Of course, your mileage may vary. DW often puts on a sweater in the dead of summer to deal with A/C!).
That having been said, it can (and does) fall below freezing. Not often, but it can. Bottom line, a light jacket will probably get you thru and (if you are coming from MA in November), the coat you wear for the trip will do if we get a really cold day. Some folks (like me) wear shorts during what passes for winter here. Last edited by Bizdoc; 11-02-2013 at 07:43 PM. Reason: correct spelling |

Winter weather in TV runs in cycles. Some years there is an early frost before Christmas and some years no frost until February. Most days things tend to warm up in the afternoon. Best advice is layered clothing. If you are coming from the colder areas of the US you will be surprised to see some long term residents wearing heavy jackets, scarfs, gloves and earmuffs on 50 degree mornings. I believe your blood gets thinner and you feel the cold more after you have been here for few winters.

We rented the month of December 2010 and it was very cold the entire month. We never raised the sides in our golf cart and wore heavy coats every day. 2011 and 2012 winters have been fairly mild. You just never know!

Don't forget that if you plan to travel back up North in the winter you will need your coat, gloves, etc.

Shorts & T-Shirts. There is no "winter" here. I haven't worn a pair of long pants or a coat/jacket since I've lived here unless the situation called for a pair of pants.

My first winter here, so I am a rookie. I would have jeans and or long pants along with sweatshirts. It can get cold overnight, so if you are an early riser and out and about , I would have at least one heavy jacket, scarf and someone told me some people wear mittens.
I also keep a light jacket in the car as some restaurants are cold because the A/C is overwheming like Toojays. You get so used to being warm that when the temperatures drop, it feels colder. ![]()

January and February of 2010 had 23 days where it never hit 60, 15 where it never hit 55. Pretty easy to get a tee time that year. The running joke was "Someday I am going to get a place in FL". I forget which year, but there was a stretch where over night temperatures go to the low 20s.... Maybe I am getting spoiled, but I will tell you that a day where the temperature hits a high of 56 degrees at 2:30 PM for one minute is cold. Add to that a 17 MPH north wind and I am staying home ![]() On those days, it is not possible to convey to a friend up north why I am not golfing.... On the other hand the last two winters have been glorious.... Great day today.... up and at 'em
