The Bonita and Hemingway gates have had problems since day one. I really don't think it is a matter of the gate being hit all the time so much as it is a defective gate in this instance. But having gates on Canal Street really is a dumb idea.

I ALMOST hit a gate. Early in the morning sun so bright I could not see it for the glare. Since I knew it was there I stopped just in time.

All of the gates that I've driven through have a sensor that raises the gate of a car or golf cart is going under it. If it's coming down and you rush through it, it will go back up.
Maybe some people are going through so fast that it doesn't have time to go back up. But whatever is causing the problem, how about encasing the arms in foam, like a Nerf bat, and having them attached in a way that they can simply be reattached with any fuss. Kind of a breakaway gate.

Fixed at 8:00 am 09/30, down by noon 9/30. Would love to see the videos recorded on this gate online. Is there any other gates in TV that get hit as often as this one?
