Default Where have all the "Geckos" gone?

I call the little lizards around here "Geckos"...just my pet name for em since I don't know what they're really called...but anyhow, WHERE HAVE THEY GONE? About 3 weeks ago I began to notice that I wasn't seeing any around our house. Our cat use to like setting on the lanai and watch them scamper around the bushes and across the front porch railing. I have not seen ONE in weeks and I'm really looking now. Oh yes, I did see a dead one in the mouth of a big black bird that landed in our back yard. I don't recall this happening before and this is going into our 3rd year here.

Just wondering...has anyone else noticed this strange phenomenon? I live in Liberty Park and haven't seen any around the pools or postal stations either.

Some "Floridian" once told me, "...if you have 'geckos' around, that's a good sign that you don't have snakes...because snakes eat them..." YIKES...haven't seen any snakes around and don't want to but "Where have all the Geckos gone...?"

Nonresidents without passes, buffalo, and the Morse family have been going out at night eating anoles --- that's what the "geckos" are --- in order to deprive the poor resident snakes of their food. But not to worry. The POA has filed a class action lawsuit demanding that the Developer establish an Anole Preservation Area in all locations now used for the Buffalo. Next year, the high school will rename their sports teams, The Villages Lizards (the name soundly defeated The Villages Anoles in a poll).

Our next concern, of course, involves the dwindling number of love bugs found in TV this year. We are looking into actions the Developer may have performed that have resulted in harm to these creatures and violated the implied agreements in our deeds that guaranteed our rights to enjoy our twice-yearly visits by these adorable characters.

I'd send you some of my anoles but I like them too much to share. We have plenty around here from itty bitty ones to a couple fairly good-sized ones. Maybe you have snakes?

Oh my gosh you are toooo funny!!! ;D :joke: Have you ever thought of writing for a living????? I NEVER would have thought of those possibilities...but now that you've mentioned them...I think you might be right. I'm sooooo glad the POA will get right on this matter. Makes me sleep better at night feeling all "warm and fuzzy" just knowing that they are out there day AND night working for me and all of God's little creatures. AND...as for the lack of lovebugs...I wasn't going to mention that...lest I also be accused of seeing "little green men"...but since YOU mentioned it first...it IS weird isn't it????

Oh Uncle Muncle...you are too much. So witty and able to weave together so many current topics. I still think your 'anole retentive' line that you used a while back was a classic!!!

;D ;D ;D

Oh.thank you Muncle for adding some humor to a somewhat depressing lineup of recent TOTV discussions.

P.S. There are plenty of "geckoes" in my yard, and very few lovebugs!

I needed that Muncle!!!
I think maybe the gecko's are off having sex so we can have a bunch of new geckos running around. I know -- they are not gecko's --but I like calling them that.
