Thanks, I found out I can get it done at the Tax Collectors office, but it's $119. Mail order is $45 plus whatever it cost to get a passport photo.

$119 is for a new permit. Renewal is $57.00, or it was when I renewed mine. Call the tax collectors office, make an appointment and the process will take less than 15 minutes.

Thanks for your reply. You are absolutely correct. I called and got the same info, sorry I didn’t update my statement.

And if you're a veteran they give you priority. Had my permit in exactly one week. Some of my neighbors had to wait six to 10 weeks.

So you don't have to qualify at the range for a CCL in Florida ? Wow, I was in the wrong profession.

Renewals do not require range. Original license requires class, range and a long background check.

Prior or active military service does not.

Anyone know how easy it is to change a "Non-Resident" permit into a "Resident" permit...

Still not a full time FL resident, but I am a homeowner...

Are you trying to renew an CCW from another state? CCW from other states are good for 90 days from the time you become a resident. They do not transfer. You can use a DD214 if you have one or if you still have the certificate from the class you took to get the one you have, you can use it. If you don't have either one of these, look for a CCW class. Try the Straight Shooters web site. VSS.org.

Take a copy of the certificate to the tax office on Powell Road.along with your check book. They will take the photo, prints and your money.

Are they capable of doing that at the Powell Rd. location? When I did my application I had to go to Bushnell because they were the only location with the finger print equipment. That was April of last year though.

I went through this simple process when I became a resident (2 years ago) but at the time that I applied for my "None Resident" permit, I was still a resident in another state but owned a condo in FL. Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong but you can not be considered a FL Resident (need FL license, car registration and voter ID) to change your CCW to Resident status.
To answer your question, if you are a resident of FL, just go to the the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Home - Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services) and change your address there.
Good luck and hope I made myself clear.
