Warren, sadly, most of the responses in this thread are not relevant to the post.

It seems to be the norm around here.

Cheeeeeeees! Lighten up! That's what makes posting on TOTV fun...and I can easily see the humor in Perrjojo's post! I think you and the OP missed the subtlety of it.

Thanks! I'm glad someone got my humor. Actually WD is still higher......2.99 compared to Walmart 2.98.

I almost always get it...and like it.

I have had two jokey posts removed in the last couple of days. I say if we can't kid around, what's the use of being here?

On this earth?

I would suggest that if you really want a relevant answer you ask the WD store manager. Anything anyone else posts is pure speculation.

Responding to the original question: economies of scale.

Ohhhhhhh! Thanks for the reminder. We used to have that all the time back in the '80s. I sometimes put dill in it.

Sometimes I do that with fresh tomatoes...oil/vinegar/sugar/salt and pepper. Yum.

I don't trust Kraft. I never have.

In this commercial from 1958 they make a meal starting with a hot dog split in half, next it's stuffed with macaroni and cheese and finally smeared with mustard.

How can you trust a company that thinks that tastes good?

Now that reminds me that some people back in my youth used to put sugar on tomatoes.

Your O/V/S/S/P combo sounds good. Now if we could get some decent home-grown tomatoes around here... (à la Ohio or Jersey or PA).

If you ate a plant-based diet, you could grow all your own food and rarely visit a supermarket.

It's the pimento garnish that does it.

Gator's Dockside used to have a hamburger covered in mac and cheese.

Have you made a price comparison of all the products you buy between WD, Publix, and Walmart? Every store has loss leaders and then jacks the price up on other items.

Here's what I think about Walmart: I don't know exactly what I think about Walmart.

For me it's a royal PIA to shop there. I'll stick to the smaller, less crowded stores and am very grateful that I can afford to pay higher prices to have a calmer shopping experience. I'm sorry if that sounds snotty, but grocery shopping is actually enjoyable for me--but not at Walmart. And we don't buy enough food to make that big a price difference over a year's time. However, I am glad it is there for the young families and others who absolutely need to or want to get lower prices on the food they buy the most of. The only time we go there is to get something in the non-food area, and if we happen to need groceries, we will get them while there. But generally we avoid the place, especially in the winter season.

I do not like their drive-Mom-and-Pop-businesses-out tactics, nor the fact that they got caught for charging less than break-even prices on things in stores located in areas where they wanted to drive out the competition. They are a prime example of corporate greed in my opinion. BUT, they do employ a lot of people. I don't know if they pay a fair wage equal to other companies equal to the skill level of the job, so I can't comment on that. So there's a lot of contradictions there.

That could have been in a past life.
