Ya know what I don't understand? There are numerous post about dogs and yet I haven't seen one about people who let there cats out to wander the neighborhood at night and use our lawns to do their business. Cats don't carry plastic bags and pick up after themselves, like the majority of dog owners do. So if you find a deposit on your lawn why do you assume it's a dog and not a cat? Many cats use the outdoors and our lawns to do their business. I guess the only difference is cats go,out at night on their own, no one sees them, so lets blame all the dogs.

If one ALWAYS pick up after their pup, what is the problem with letting them come along for a walk or ride to pick up the mail??? I don't get the problem.

If someone has a problem with dogs here in the villages...why move here in the first place? I think everyone knows that TV is full of LOTS of dogs!!

There are people in TV that think dogs should only, always, and forever do their business in their own yard. I agree - when possible works out nicely and never, ever on someone's private property. But if a dog is lucky enough to have an owner willing to walk him and he/she happens to need to potty when they stop for the mail - SO WHAT. As long as the owner picks up quit your complaining. I am tired of all this beating up about where dogs go - yep there are some that won't pick up and no matter how many times people complain it won't change - so please stop it already. Thanks I feel better now.

I agree!!

However, if all of the complaining is done here on TOTV, then I have no problem with the complaints. I know I personally have never had a complaint when I'm out with my pups.....only here on TOTV. I guess folks just have the ba..s on a forum when no one knows who you are. So...complain away. As gomoho said...it's not gonna change.

It's not that dogs shouldn't be walked to the mail box....it's that often people don't pick up around there, and there have been problems with the disposal of the doo doo into the trash cans there, as discussed at length here:

Ditto to Patty55's comment!
Why is this such a frequent thread? Why do the pickleball players start so early? Why not provide additional "areas" to allow dogs and their owners walk on paths that nondog owners are not allowed to walk? There are plenty of green areas for dog paths?

This is like saying, every person has a home, yard, lani, why do you ever have to leave your abod? Dog owners like being out enjoying TV with their canine companions--

the question is "why not"

My dog doesn't like to go for walks. He thinks they're forced marches. Too much running around free on a dog beach, growing up.

But nothing makes him happier than moseying on down to the mailboxes for a good sniff around. This could take a half hour. He looooooooooves to sniff where other dogs have been, and there's a high concentration of scent around the mailbox areas. Fortunately, he''s not a marker, so he's not killing any grass or plants.

I see nothing wrong with walking down to the mailboxes with him for a proper sniff, and nobody's going to convince me otherwise.
