With all the challenges in the world today is this really one of them ? Smokers have been for the most part isolated from those who don’t want to have that around them. However I believe most of us in the villages love the freedom America provides us. So completely eliminating something those already have significant restrictions to comply with just doesn’t seem like the American thing to do.

What's a little cigar smoke among neighbors who aren't trying to pervert the next generation?
You know what's REALLY perverted/insane/unnatural - is being SO upset by only .5% (one half of one percent) of people in the USA, that you'd have to find a topic about smoking to complain about it.

Different point of view. Doing what you want is great. You are free to do that until what ever it is negativly impacts someone else's right to do what they want. You can walk anywhere as long as you don’t walk over others. You can drink as long as others don't have to also drink. And you can use tobacco/nicotine as long as no one else has to us it. Smoking in public puts others in the position of being forced to breath the smoke that needn't be present. Even if it's only one breath, one drink or being trodden on one time. Only the addicted "need" their fix. Do it in private or wear a patch or eat a nicotine gummie. Smoking is unnecessary and does no one any good.
Next?

When the smoke is drifting halfway across the square and entering my nostrils, the smoker IS imposing their lifestyle on other people. That is an imposition. I'm minding my own business halfway across the square - and YOUR smoke is imposing on my breathing. I shouldn't have to move. You should have to keep your smoke to yourself. Y'know - so it doesn't impose on other people.

WOW! I'm convinced! We should start toddlers in preschool on scotch and cigars so they will grow up strong and healthy and live long lives, just like you. πŸ˜πŸ™„

I haven't smoked for near 40 years now, but occasionally, when someone lights up nearby, usually with a match, not a lighter, I get that urge to have a 'ciggy' one more time.
The rest of the time, they just stink!

Why are we still tolerating smokers around the squares???

For the same reason we tolerate gays, transgenders, sun god worshipers, communists, etc. This is America and we recognize the rights of minorities, that's why we "tolerate" them.

I find it pretty easy to tolerate most groups, big or small, mainstream or fringe. I have even fought for those groups right to speak freely (something a lot of people with green or purple hair can't claim). Where I have difficulty is when I'm expected to advocate for a group I don't believe in. If I fall to fully advocate for theses outliers I'm a biggot.

I again call bs.

πŸ˜„πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ Hahaha! No! No! No! Not the same at all, silly rabbit. Not unless all the above named happen to be the smokers spreading their noxious fumes around the squares.

What if they are spreading their toxic ideology to my grandchildren?
