Again, you can get the exact same information FREE on their web page. You don't have to pay for it.

It’s offensive to me as they must think we are idiots.
They're not entirely wrong. There are many people who buy every word they shove at them. The Villages is not known for its critical thinkers. They don't even realize they're insulting themselves when they proudly proclaim that they live in a bubble and drank the kool-aid.

We have a good paper. I would just like it to give more facts and become more accurate. Which I believe would make it better.
If you needed clarification for info in an article or picture, you can contact Curt Hills by phone or email (753-1119, or curt.hills@thevillagesmedia.com). Recently I had a question about a statement accompanying a small picture and I emailed Curt. He quickly responded with additional info that did, in fact, clarify things.

It was not essential info to most people, but it enlightened me !!

Those among you who bash the local journal should simply not subscribe. Whether Kansas' online journal, the NYT, the WP, or other "news" source, there is plenty for all. You have so many from which to choose!

I enjoy our local paper. As a part time resident, I read as much as time will allow in our local journal. Ads? Yes. Cover stories? Yes. Daily happenings? Definitely. Word scramble, sudoku and other brain quizzes? Yes. Obituaries? Sometimes.

The paper is a true blessing. They deliver it <to my driveway>. If they miss a morning delivery, they bring it later in the day.The telephone staff has always been courteous about starting and stopping my paper. Their store in Brownwood Paddock Square has other printed media and a $5 map of TV - and they're right next to the Villages Grown.

It comes down to a few things: among other things, accuracy and journalistic pedigree. No media company is without fault, right? To those who sneer at the developer's interests, lighten up. Would our community be better off without the paper? Even you staunch critics would hesitate to see our local journal vanish.

Take my positive vote for a long life for our daily paper. I am thankful that they are there, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
:-)

And lest anyone think I'm a fan of TDS, I only read it when it was delivered to my rental, this past Winter...

It means little to me...

Interesting, it was created as a result of the Blair incident (plagiarism) to correct an incident of bad reporting. The only other paper who had an Ombudsman was the Washington Post, and that also was an attempt to insure accuracy., and both papers have found other ways to insure accuracy in reporting. They take reporting news accuretly very serious and have been shown the last years to be just that...accurate. Perfect ? Nobody is, but I read multiple sources each day, so I think I can judge truth, and it always plays out.

Those who constantly yell "fake" at the media are 99% proven wrong, so I am comfortable.

But the subject is Daily Sun. I take it for what it is,......news wise, low expectations, knowing the incredible bias, and enjoy it. I don't complain. Believe me, Daily Sun has a national reputation.
My wife and I are more-or-less satisfied Daily Sun subscribers. It may be "news lite" but for years now I've gone to foreign sources for serious news, particularly national/international news, and preferably sources without a dog in the fight at hand. Yomiuri Shimbun (Japan News) for anything in Asia; their coverage is amazingly complete when compared to virtually any American medium. For Europe, all European capitals and many other cities have English-language editions of their newspapers, many of which are better and more complete sources than their American counterparts. Even al-Jazeera appears to have higher reporting standards than a lot of American outlets.

The Daily Sun isn't much different from many American outlets in that their "news" seems to be heavily AP. Going beyond that, however, the Sun does an admirable job on regional news and the local stuff; Villages news, current events, things like that. But I knew that before I subscribed. I knew the product I would be getting and am satisfied with it.

We've come (sunk?) a long way since the time when Uncle Walter was the most trusted man in America.

No better way to look at the paper for what it is!!! If you look at the errors, half truths and pure opinions in what is called news today there are no outlets that are pure news outlet.

We all have our own individual OPINIONS!!! I am not a psychologist - but, I never understood why some people seem to really enjoy being negative (yes, I know that is just my opinion).

I subscribe to the Daily Sun delivery. I am often too busy to read - and yes, I know most stuff is online - but, goodness - I spend almost all the hours I am awake working 100% online - so, I enjoy the break. I find the Daily Sun publication helpful - I could care less if you have opposing opinions and I could care less if your opinion differs from mine. :-) :-)

Now - I am off to sit down and relax with my Daily Sun - before I get back to work :-) Have a good day!

You are exactly right; they also keep reprinting articles over and over! Only good news too nothing negative.
