It's big, it's fast, but expensive and you have to call every couple of years and renegotiate the price to get it down a little bit.

BTW, when you try to get then to correct it, get ready for NOTHING to happen!!!
So -

Are you using a modem/router recommended to support those speeds?

How far is the modem/router from the device you're using to check your speed?

How many devices are connected at the same time?

For me, I have a laptop, two cell phones, a desktop computer, two TV sets, a tablet, and a photoprinter all connected at the same time and at one of those TVs is in use. The laptop is currently shut off and the printer is on, but not being used at the moment. The tablet runs 24/7 because I use it as my alarm clock on my nightstand. The modem can handle up to 500mbps and the router can receive signals from the entire inside of the house, the laundry shed, the lanai, the porch on the other side of the kitchen wall, and the area immediately outside my front door in the carport (but not the rest of the carport).

My current speedtest.net result is:

237.70mbps download
11.98mbps upload

Both the modem and the router are beside me at my desk, and the only things that aren't in this room are the two TVs and hubby's cell phone.

Internet speeds are not guaranteed. I have 1.2 GB with Xfinity. Today, it tested at 966 mbps on my hardwired desktop. Wifi devices will usually be slower.

Default When you switch they give you very little instruction about how to set it up.

I’m good at that sort of thing but it took me hours. They don’t send out an installion crew unless you want to pay high dollars for it. When the Geek Squad came with out with TVs they laughed and said Xfinity expects us to do their installs.

I have xfinity and have been happy with their service and reliability. In 2 1/2 years it has only gone down once for 4 hours. I pay $80 for 1.2 speed.

My only issue I had was with their modem and wifi signal. I couldn't get wifi in my lanai with the sliding glass doors closed and the modem was 10 feet away. Had a tech guy out twice and while it got better I was still having issues. The last time the tech said their modems were not very good and recommended getting a mesh wifi router. I bought a Deco mesh wifi router and that helped tremendously. I get a strong signal everywhere in the house and outside as well.

Xfinity is difficult company to get along with! Constantly looking for ways to increase your monthly charge.
Then they decided I was over data limits? 2 residents watching TV in the evening & checking e-mail nothing different than years previous. Wanted to switch me to unlimited for of course more money! No thanks & good bye!
Went with T-Mobile 5G home internet! Works great & happy to be rid of Xfinity!

Never a slowdown. We also have their phone service: 2 iPhones at $30/mo. each, everything unlimited.

They do hiccup now and again. But the tech people at their store on 441 are pretty savvy and can tell you the steps to take to avoid a service call. Our modem had an annoying habit of jumping on- and off-line at random intervals. The guy at the store said it was 90% chance it was our modem: over 3 years old. I brought in the old one, he gave me a new one, I set it up and no problems since. Their service calls if they come to your house are $100 for the call plus parts, if any, replaced.
This is exactly why I switched to Quantum Fiber. They could never fix the issue of my having to reboot my modem.

I've used Xfinity for years now and find it extremely reliable ... although expensive. I never get dropped ... this afternoon I was playing cards online with other Villagers and one person kept getting notices that the Internet connection was unstable. Never happened to me with Xfinity. I think I had Spectrum eons ago and it was not good.

I agree it is a great rate I fell into last June as a new customer. You’re correct it had a 1.2TB monthly data cap that I never come use to using. I use it for all the smart house stuff and streaming - no bw issues at all so I’m happy so far.

I believe you can only get Xfinity or Spectrum. No fiber was installed in these areas.

When people move into the newer areas they often forget to find out what utilities are available. We have friends in Richmond and no fiber was installed. I have no idea why this would be the case and it's very unfortunate for the people who live there. I think once the homes are built, fiber companies don't come in and install fiber in the community. The only place where this does happen is up north where Century Link is installed and only in some areas.

We also have friends in Dabney and there and the areas around Dabney you can get Centric Fiber which has prices similar to Quantum.
