Default You Can't Get There From Here...

I'm here in lower Paradise for a month before I fly back North for the Holidays. All my traveling while I'm here is by golf cart.

I'm pretty independent, but here's my tale of woe:

Kohl's is having a big sale, and Joann Fabrics had a 50% off coupon in the Sunday paper. So I get out my map to plot my course from the Village of Bonita to Kohls. But you can't get there from here.

OK - I didn't go to exercise this morning, so I'll just park the golf cart at Walgreens in Rolling Acres Shopping strip and, being a lawful citizen, cross at the light at Rolling Acres and Rt 441/27. But there was no crosswalk there! I looked across Rolling Acres and noticed that if I crossed at the light, I'd have to hike up a steep (at least to me) hill to get to a sidewalk. Hmm..... Now what do I do??
So I walked down to the entrance to the shopping center and jay-walked across Rolling Acres to get to the next shopping area.

Is there another way to get there??? If there is not, who can I complain/question/beg about an easier and safer journey to spend my (husband's) hard earned money???

I usually go by car. It is the safest and fastest way.

Sadly, you've found the only way to get there via cart. As to whom to contact, this is a definite fuhgeddaboutit. Lady Lake will absolutely not permit carts to cross Rolling Acres (even street legal from what I understand). Period. End of conversation.

Wish they would find some sort of solution. Like you, I'd love to shop over there in my cart.

BTW -- Michaels will honor JoAnn's coupons.

Unfortunately, Michaels won't sell you Five Guys burgers, though

You would think the business and restaurant owners in that plaza would be willing to foot the bill (or at least part of the bill) for bridge or tunnel access.

I doubt that will happen in these times of economic downturn.

Probably the safest way is to take a cab. (As long as you're spending your husband's hard-earned money.) That area between Rolling Acres across Rte 466 to the next mall is dangerous even driving a car, let alone a cart.

It's not Rt. 466. It's Rolling Acres Road, and it's scary in a car, much less walking.

We've parked a cart and done the 20 yard wind sprint across Rolling Acres Rd. to get to Five Guys a number of times. NOT FUN if there's any amount of traffic on the road, compounded by the fact that you're trying to cross where there are cars coming in and out of both shopping centers as well.

But it's Five Guys we're talkin' about here..........so it's worth the trouble!

Hi Red,

About Street Legals, pretty sure they are OK, they are permitted on all roads 35 mph or less and Rolling Acres qualifies....period...end of conversation....giggle

A cross walk across Rolling Acres would be most appropriate. Maybe even a shuttle bus from Rolling Acres Plaza to The Kohl's/Best Buy/Jo Ann's Plaza to Sam's to Home Depot and back to Rolling Acres.
