Probably a lot more of these in the human variety than with the canine one.

I agree. Their hearing is so much stronger than humans, the music and noise must be painful for dogs. I think it can be cruel to take them to the Square when the music is playing. It would be especially upsetting for puppies.

Why do I get the feeling that perhaps you thought TV was built for dogs instead of people?

The BCDD, SLCDD, and VCCDD? If so then is the property and roadways of the squares somehow different than the common area and roadways in Villa areas? The CDDs own those and do not treat those as "public property" so if the squares are owned by the CDDs are they also not "public property?" Do the controlling CDDs not have authority to institute any legal bans they choose?

The boards of the BCDD, SLCDD, and VCCDD (and all CDDs) are elected by the property owners in that area. Since these boards encompass commercial areas their boards are elected by the owners of the commercial properties. Since The Villages owns the commercial properties then The Villages elects the boards of the commercial areas. Therefore, couldn't it be said that effectively The Villages owns the squares since they alone elect the members of the boards for the CDDs that own the squares?

If The Villages controls the CDDs and the CDDs own the squares and the entity that owns the squares has the authority to make rules for the property they own then is it too much of a stretch to say The Villages has the authority to ban something at the squares? (saving seats, coolers, tables, vaping,..... dogs)
The streets are all public, so I don't think the Developer nor the CDD's have any authority over the roads and sidewalks.

The actual entertainment areas (I believe) are owned by the CDD's (which in the case of the Squares, are effectively controlled by the Developer).

I suppose the CDD could ban almost anything they want in the actual entertainment areas (smoking), but a doubt a "pet ban" would be consistent with the commercial nature of the general area. After all, isn't the entire purpose of the entertainment areas, to drive people into the commercial areas?

I have a dog and occasionally bring him to the Square ... he loves it there and knows how to behave. I have total empathy for the complainers, although I don't think the problem is exclusive to dogs. I think it's a societal problem. Personally, I see more problems from obnoxious drunks, than pets.

I love animals “ pets “ but I hate pet owners ! They think that there ANIMAL is something that others need to like. Went to Beef O Brady’s on Thursday, and a person came in with a dog ( not an aide animal) tied it to the bar stool, and the animal was a nuisance. Why don’t people worry about children like they do about their ANIMALS? Plus keep them off of others property and make them #### on their own yards!

This is the kind of thing that I personally hate ---------"gray areas" of society. A sign saying NO DOGS (not service animals) and a manager effectively saying something else - it is OK. Another "gray area" in the village is what the H___ is the top speed allowed for golf carts on the streets. It seems to be ANYWHERE between 15 and 40 mph.

I bring my dog lots of places, even sometimes to stores where he's welcome...... even though I could bring him to a square... I wouldn't. My present job in life is to keep him safe and happy, he would be neither at the squares......
Sounds like you have a happy dog. I heard this recently, but I can't confirm that it is true. But supposedly there is a class somewhere (?) in the Villages to help dog owners understand "dog language" and what their pets are trying to tell them.

I doubt that there is enough Police available here in The Villages to enforce dogs in Publix. They have more important problems to work on.

Whoa. I'd be embarrassed about that question, if I were you. Brian is obviously not a dog owner or hasn't been a very observant one.

I explained it in Comment #23, as did ThirdofFive, before me. It is no more complicated than that.

Hang around any of the outside bars and you'll see/hear them... Cackling at their bad jokes, shouting over each other, screeching to their friends...

Oh, and the last time we took our pup for a ride in the golf cart (one of her favorite things to do...), we ended up at Brownwood to grab a Dole Whip at Island Poke.

We sat on a bench right across from the square as the band was playing and Maggie curled up in my lap and fell asleep... No whining, no yapping, no stress...

And that dog shouldn't have been there...

Did you complain to the management, or just here?

BTW, did you get a corner booth?

Wouldn't the same apply to golf carts going 22 or cars going 38 on Morse???
