Well, the difference would be that lives are at risk with MOVING vehicles on a roadway possibly crashing. If a puppy dog is shedding on the vegetables, that is certainly a problem of sanity, but NOT life and limb.
...........So, I would guess that the manager is the right person to handle the Publix situation. Leaving the Police to handle more EXTREME situations. In a way I wish that The Villages could afford to hire MORE Police and they would not have to PRIORITIZE which incidents to respond to.

And if a 110lb Rottweiler rips your throat out your life is not at risk??? And a cart going 22 puts how many more lives at risk than a cart going 20???? Or a car "speeding" at 38 down BV is far, far more dangerous than one going 35, right???? Or more dangerous than a 90 year old that can't see over the steering wheel going 30????? It's OK, I like picking cherries also

I suppose the CDD could ban almost anything they want in the actual entertainment areas (smoking), but a doubt a "pet ban" would be consistent with the commercial nature of the general area. After all, isn't the entire purpose of the entertainment areas, to drive people into the commercial areas?

I have a dog and occasionally bring him to the Square ... he loves it there and knows how to behave. I have total empathy for the complainers, although I don't think the problem is exclusive to dogs. I think it's a societal problem. Personally, I see more problems from obnoxious drunks, than pets.
Dogs love their alpha. Given a choice I would wager they would choose home or going for a walk (where you are actually moving at a fair pace, side by side) than the square at their peak. But they never get to choose. And I'm sure the obnoxious drunks and other over anxious dogs are a couple more things your pet might prefer to avoid, you know, if they could choose.

I'm glad you know my pet so well !

Any other advice on what he likes or doesn't like?

I mean ... should I change his food? Does he have any preference between Pork Bones and Beef Bones? Tennis balls or rubber balls, when he's at the park?

Your pet? No. I don't believe we've met. But I have had the opportunity to observe my own dogs along with many others. I believe that dogs would choose to run and chase, over the overwhelming hue and cry of the Squares at peak volume. Or a good rest with its pack after eating. Food? Meat! They aren't to picky. Most of all, if you are their pack leader, they are devoted to you and will suffer any indignity you put them through because their biggest joy is your approval.

Then, two other Loud Yipping, Yapping, Sniveling, Snapping, Barking, Crying, Scratching, Misbehaving, Disruptive Dogs showed to visit with the first Loud Yipping, Yapping, Sniveling, Snapping, Barking, Crying, Scratching, Misbehaving, Disruptive Dog.

Finally after about 20 people kept turning around and glaring at the owners they finally dragged it out of there. I assume they left not because of the glaring, but because they had enough music for one night.

To YOU- and only to YOU your horribly spoiled, misbehaving dog is a family member. To humans gathering with a large group of other humans your dog is an unwelcome irritation. Leave it home. We don't want your Loud Yipping, Yapping, Sniveling, Snapping, Barking, Crying, Scratching, Misbehaving, Disruptive Dog ruining the night we are having gathering with other humans.
I bet there more obnoxious misbehaving spoiled humans at squares than there are dogs. I agree square’s, grocery stores, and restaurants no place for dogs UNLESS they are seeing eye dogs for blind.

The Villages does not own the Squares and have no authority to ban anything.
Well, whoever owns or manages the Squares has a litany of rules announced before every performance like no seat-saving and no smoking including vaping.

So those same people have the authority to ban dogs inside the square.

OMG. Another “ call the police comment”. Maybe they will arrive in a couple of days. That is a ridiculous low priority complaint and you’ll be lucky if they even entertain it. If you have a complaint, give it to the manager. It’s his job to enforce rules. A cop can’t make the dog leave. It’s not a law. It’s a business rule. The only way the cop can enforce anything is if the manager wants to dog n owner kicked out and trespassed. I seriously doubt it would go that far. Leave the cops out of the nonsense

Calm down, my thinking was... one person finds themselves on the online news source, it might discourage others.....

And while we’re at it… please leave your loud yipping, yapping, sniveling, snapping, barking, crying, scratching grand children at home as well. 😂

I have usually found the children of visitors rather well behaved here in the Villages. There are exceptions. Some vandalism of bird houses at a place I used to frequent was probably done by teens. This was about ten years ago though.
