You can get free return software links from the IRS site. Do the Federal yourself and see how it compares to your paid return. Then think about doing it yourself in the future.

This is exactly what we did last year to get the refund from our old state.

Filing a part year tax return for your previous state, labeling it as the "Final Return", and including your Florida address, legally informs the state that you are no longer a resident. Although, they may still bug you to pay more taxes.

TurboTax can prepare a part year tax return for any state.

Taxtown in Cape Coral we still use them after moving here. You send your tax info by priority mail with the envelope they provide, then he sends your return back to you. After you send a check for the service, he electronically files your Federal and State return.
It’s pretty easy, then you can do TurboTax the next year, or just use Taxtown.

They complete state tax returns. I have used them since moving here three years ago. I file a New York State tax return.

The problem with using your prior preparer in another state is mailing the documents. If the package is lost, your financial information is at risk.

Scan them to a PDF file and send an email. Very easy.
