Default Just got back from the Lifestyle PP visit

Wow. . . . . that pretty much sums up my feelings. I was expecting a great place (from all the research I've done), but actually being there and experiencing a bit of the lifestyle really amazed me. One of my daughters came with me because I wanted 2 pair of eyes to evaluate it all and both of us agreed that it's the most wonderful community we've ever been to. She would like to move her family there but she and her husband are only 37 yrs old.

We took the trolley tour, boat tour, went to the driving range (neither of us are golfers, but it was fun), joined a water aerobics class, laid out at the pool, ate lunch and dinner at some country clubs, had a blast driving the golf cart everywhere and the fun of getting lost alot, went to the nightly entertainment on the squares, saw a movie, visited 12 new build and pre-owned homes, got to know other people doing the LPP, shopped, and visited many other sites. What a great time we had - even saw a snake and an alligator!! Our sales rep took us to all the different types of rec centers and we peeked into zumba classes, the weight/cardio center and billiards. And best of all, we met and talked with so many friendly and kind people! We felt very welcomed.

So, basically I drank the Kool-Aid! Two of my other daughters are not happy that I am thinking of moving away from them but I really felt so energized at TV by staying active and having fun. So the decision is whether I go sooner or in 4 yrs when I retire. If I go sooner, I'll have to get a fulltime job down there, but in my type of work (nursing) we usually only work 3 days/wk so I could also still live some of the lifestyle until retirement.

As far as housing, I liked the Courtyard Villas and the Designer homes. Each have their advantages and disadvantages - I have a small dog and don't like yardwork, so the villas work great for that. But some of the designer homes we saw had Florida rooms, felt more like a home than an apartment and had nicer lanais with bird cages. Both types were in my price range, but I am trying not to spend too much so as not to be "house poor." My sales rep said that I can come back for another LPP when I'm ready to buy a home. Yay!

I'm so excited to be on this journey and hope to join all of you as soon as possible.

Sounds like what we did and we ended up here over 2.5 years ago and loving every minute of it.

As an RN in a similar position (except that I purchased a home in TV last Fall), "we need to talk"! I'm trying to navigate the waters of applying for a nursing license in the state of FL and finding out what's the best way to find job listings in the area. So....I've PM'd you!

We'll look for you at the Buckeye club when you get down here. Great that you were able to really experience the lifestyle. I still can't believe I can do this every day.

We are returning to TV on Nov. 1st. My 'sport model' wife fell in love with all the yoga classes...she may never get off her mat.

I feel so silly. I thought you were referring to the Tampa Bucs! As you can tell, Lots of Good people on TOTV are from Ohio. Hope to see you soon.

I did the same thing you did about 5 years ago and now we're finally ready to take the plunge. Our house is on the market now and with luck, we'll be in TV by September. Can't wait. We plan to rent a furnished house for a year before we decide where to buy. We're selling all our furniture because it won't go down there and it would cost too much to move it and store it for a year. I say, take the plunge, and enjoy your life!!

We're kinda in the same shoes. We've been twice and are doing an official life style visit in June.

It doesn't take long to see what a great place this is to live. I am here 6 months a year and if it wasn't for family (and the Chesapeake Bay) I would NEVER leave. I am preparing to venture home in the next few days, but my heart will still be here.

When you say home, where do you mean? We bought our TV house six months before we moved and we started referring to the houses by the name if the city it was located in. We were terribly confused, and then We decided home was TV.

Just spent my first winter here, and it just kept getting better and better! Be sure to also look at the " historic" side before you buy. Most of the homes here are manufactured homes with mature landscaping. They are reasonably priced and it's very affordable to have one of the many service companies mow, trim and take care of your lawn. You will love living in The Villages. There is so much to do, and so many nice people!
