Anyone know how much the actual phone impacts reception?

I knew there were reasons why I avoided having a cell phone for years and years. Even though I succumbed a couple of years ago, it sits OFF on my counter 99.9% of the time!

It collects a huge amount of traffic and weather alerts, which I dutifully erase now and then!

I'm visiting in Hadley at the moment. Both my Sprint and my sister's Verizon services work perfectly.

When we moved here I had Nextel that worked without any problems except for the $120 monthly bill. My hubby had Sprint that didn't work unless he was on the lanai.

I switched to Boost (only $50 a month for unlimited, walkie talkie, camera, and internet) and is an arm of Sprint/Nextel. Let me tell you...I couldn't be happier. In fact, my hubby switched to Boost when he saw what perfect reception I got.

I recommend Boost. It may not have all the bells and whistles like an iPhone but it serves our purposes. You can buy it at Best Buy, Radio Shack, or online through boostmobile.com

I noticed your lived in Connecticut. I do not have much use for a cell phone as I also use it very rarely. I am asking that you may want to reconsider carrying a cell phone with you when you are out and about.

It can be useful if you have a car accident and need to call the police or a medical emergency, (GOD forbid).

I got stuck in dead mans land on the Merritt Parkway late at night a couple of times and found it awfully convenient to call AAA. This is not meant as a criticism but instances that happened to me. I came to accept it can be a convenience. Sorry, I digressed from the original thread.

I have Verizon with a very low monthly rate and a lot of free minutes. I hope it works well in TV when I go from a wannabee to a frog.

True. It's usually my daughters who agitate that I should have a cell phone. Indeed, it was only to resolve potential logistical problems before a family gathering that prompted me to get a simple phone at all!

I still try very hard to avoid this device!

We ditched our land line in Atlanta and just use cell phones. With excellent cell reception at home and the portability, the land line just seemed superfluous. We haven't miss it at all.

What a nightmare! We had BRAND NEW Sprint Instinct telephones right before we moved here. After we moved here, now live in near 466A. Sprint finally released us from our contract because the service was so poor. In addition, there was no real Sprint service stores near here.

Verizon is adequate, on a scale of 1 - 10, I'd rate it an 7 or 8.

There's a Verizon store near Target.

Know anybody that wants Sprint Instinct telephones?
