Bet you can't wait for January to be here! I know we are counting the days until our design meeting in November. You are diagonally across the street from us on Allaire Loop.

Haven't yet thought too much about furniture - still figuring out the floor plans, etc. so we are prepared for our design mtg. I guess that will come next. Our firiends who are closing in October had quite a bit of luck at Haverty's in Orlando. They said they were very helpful and easy to work with.

It's great to hear that you are across the street from us. I purchased a book online called, "The Villages Florida Book" for $29.95, you also get the ebook to your computer as well. It has a lot of information to ask when you have your appt with the design team.

Thanks for the info about Haverty's. We are doing our homework as our home should be built by end of March and we will be at the Beachwinds in Cocoa Beach for April, so we will be there to outfit our new Iris. Can't wait to meet you Rona & Bill. Warm Regards, Nancy

Hi ya all: I love hearing about all of my future neighbors in Fernadina. My wife, Marsha, and I are in section 206 on Partridge Avenue. We have to build it by May 2013, and plan to move there full-time in August 2013. The social and activity aspects of The Villages is what sold us on it ... and it is beautiful. I had been sold on the hype before I ever saw it, and, to my amazment, my rational better half actually fell in love with it when she first visited it.

I find it rather hilarious that we have only been in our home two months and are already old timers. FYI: There is a neighborhood group called the Fernandina Flockers (bird reference not movie), It had its first meeting a couple weeks ago and there were about 40 people. The next meeting is on Sept 15. I am not sure if they will meet again at Captiva or Bradenton will be open but if anyone is interested, pm me. Welcome all.

Nice to know that it could be a friendly neighborhood. I won't move in on Bokeelia until 9/18 so I won't make your second meeting. Tell me were all the attendees couples? I hate to be a fifth wheel if you know what I mean so I hope I'm not the only single in the Flockers.

It seems like the only ones posting are those who have bought lots, waiting for the design team or waiting for their home to be built. Where are the folks who have bought patio villas in Fernandina. They just aren't posting.

How did that name come about? Please let me know when your meeting will be after September.

I am sure there will be singles as well. And I wouldn't worry about being a fifth wheel. The mingling wasn't couple oriented.

Flockers as in birds because all the streets that were originally settled for the first meeting were bird names? People are flocking to Fernandina? I don't really know.

I don't know when the next meeting will be but will be happy to post it when I know SEE BELOW FOR UPDATE.

We have a lot in Fernandina 205 building in appx Aug 2013. At first we will be visitors until we move in permanently which is a few years away. We still would like to know what's happening in the Fernandina Flocker meetings. Is there anyway we can get information on what took place at the meetings ???
