I am so very happy for you that you were able to accomplish and achieve so much during your visit But more importantly, I was thrilled to hear that you have contractors underway in NJ and will be able to get your home back soon! I have been most concerned for you and all others affected by Sandy and am glad for some good news in that area I know you must be so excited to start this project and we will be waiting for pictures!
Linda, I will be arriving in TV on Dec 5th for closing and will be there through the beginning of April! Next season Oct thru April and hopefully a frog after that time! Yippee
Best of luck to you as well, Yankee as you begin the process! The designers are awesome, have good suggestions, and are there to help. I felt relieved when I realized it would be a thoughtful and concise experience and I am still grateful for Pam's expertise! She will be a visitor at my house for sure!
I so look forward to seeing and being in everyone's homes and getting to know all my wonderful neighbors! Thanks for your wonderful and encouraging comments!

Default Health Insurance

Hi Guys,
We are after a bit of help.

Over in the UK and throughout our travels in Europe, we are covered for Medical treatment by our National Health Service, but when we come to the US, we have take out travel insurance that gives us emergency medical cover.

However, the policies are almost always time limited for the amount of days we can be out of the UK before losing cover.

Obviously we hope to be in the US for at least 6 months at a time and maybe even popping over to see Canada some years before returning home to the UK.

What US Medical cover scheme could you guys recommend we join, which will give us the cover we need for extended periods?

regards
Andy & Wendy

Wow! Now that's a good question? I would guess that your only alternative would be to purchase private insurance. I've never had to do this (thankfully) but have heard that it is expensive. My suggestion would be to do a google search for private health insurance companies. I just did one and came up with Cigna Health Insurance which I formerly had through my employer when I was a working stiff. I think you can also get it through AARP (American Assn of Retired Persons). My guess would be that any major company would be willing to insure you for a price and there may not be a huge difference between them. Most of them you can apply for a quote on-line. Hope this helps!

Hi Wendy!
I use Access America when I travel as I seem to go to Central America a bit! But I found this article and hope it might help you
Frommers.com's Top 8 Travel Insurance Providers | Frommers.com
If you have to go private, here is another link for Blue Cross Blue Shield.

You can also check with your property insurance agent to see if they have any ideas for you as well as some of the people here from other countries. Barefoot from Canada comes to mind.send her a PM and I am certain she will respond. Though Canada is not your country, perhaps you can post something in the general discussion forum for other Great Britians to answer back...
Hope you find something you are comfortable with!

Our design appointment could not have gone better. We worked with Stacey DeWitt who was just wonderful. She really made the process quite easy. A lot of thanks also goes to all of you on TOTV who have suggested, encouraged and offered excellent counsel. We had done a lot of legwork ahead of time. Thanks to hotrodgirl I was fully prepared with my spreadsheet and questions. As a result, we were able to achieve everything we wanted, plus more!
We are building a Lantana which we stretched 2' across the back, 4' in garage and a 4' lateral stretch to the kitchen, nook side. This increased the little storage room off the laundry room which now gives me my "space". I was also able to place the refrigerator along the back wall which was my preference and not opposite the counter area.
My suggestion to those who are still waiting to thru the design process is to ask what you want in terms of design features. Right now they are very flexible, but that is always subject to change. One thing I learned is that you can change up the cabinetry for the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. it doesn't all need o be the same. I decided to keep everything uniform as I had maxed out my brain on decisions by then.
Our closing is scheduled for 2/11/13 - just 83 days away. We won't be there to close, but should be there in early March to start to get settled in.
Up north, our contractors are hard at work trying to get us back into our home in several weeks - hopefully sooner! Visiting TV at this point in time was an excellent diversion and we as glad that we of followed thru with our plans.
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! We all have a lot to be thankful for this year!
Rona
So glad to hear things are going well for you and hopefully soon will be back in your home. I'm glad you had a pleasant experience at your design meeting as did we and we are so thankful for Rusty and starting this thread--without the help from everyone that already went through their designs and were willing to share their knowledge without even knowing or meeting all of us--that's what a great neighborhood we'll be
Couldn't agree with you more and expressing a Happy Thanksgiving and the support we've had of complete strangers turning into friends is something to be thankful for!

About the packing, and I am not packing my whole house in Chicago either. Just clothes and necessary "stuff" but then I have to drive from here (in just one week!) down to Boynton Beach, pack that house (all of it) and finally get to TV and Gillyland on the 5th. Got a call from the closing dept today that they are running behind in their paperwork. So now they have to overnight everything to me before I leave. If not, they will have to overnight to one of the hotels I stay at on my way to FL. My walk through is at 2, closing at 3:30 in Brownwood, and then the celebration begins! I know I have the best neighbors ever!

Congrats to you Saxprof! How exciting for you I think quite a number of us will be "in residence" then so you must come and visit so we can toast your new property! Whatever we can do to be of service, we'll be glad to help!

Jimbo-
I'm glad you and Cathy are getting all practiced up on that packing. We start packing on December 8th and could use the help. To show you my appreciation, Rusty, Bill G., and I are going to take you on the next Pig Hunt which is scheduled for unit 210.

Junction29, have you tried to contact the British Embassy, I'm sure they have run into this before and might have suggestions.
